That would be an awesome idea, but sadly the GBA isn't really being supported as much as it was now that the DS is out. I did hear rumours of a DS Gold and Silver remake, which would be epic if it were true.
Believe me, if I did get my Silver version fixed, I'd be having my dad open it up. I don't trust myself with something so intricate!
Also, many apologies. My life got a bit hectic for a while, then I was away in Canada for two weeks - just got back a few days ago.

Come to think of it, a DS remake of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald would be great, too. Including the option of collecting all 386 if you have a R/S/E GBA AND a R/S/E DS in the DS simultaneously.

That'd be cool - although I think a bit redundant at present, given the R/S/E connectivity with Diamond and Pearl, as well as Fire Red/Leaf Green. Thing is, they put exclusive Pokémon on the Gamecube games too, so they can sell more, haha.

Yeah, that's starting to get to me. Maybe years ago when everybody had a Gameboy and you always had someone to trade between Red and Blue with, but these days? Ha. I found it hard enough to track down a friend to do the Haunter/Gengar and Graveler/Golem trade evolutions with. Little kids these days can't hope to follow the intricate battle strategies. Have you seen some of the complicated math that the game has to do EVERY time?
"Okay, Attack A has a base power of this, but it's doubled because the user's type matches, doubled again because the opponent is weak to it, multiplied by 1.5 because it's raining/smokey/snowy/sunshiney, plus previous attack X doubled the chances of a direct hit this time..."
Yadda yadda yadda. Come on! I never bothered with those environment altering attacks. I thought I was doing good with "okay, a water Pokemon using a water attack against a fire Pokemon should do some damage." The only other thing I really did was keep track of which Pokemon you should use special attacks on which should use physical attacks.

May I suggest watching some of the fanvideos the shippers have posted over on YouTube? Some of them are really quite well done.

I worked okay with multipliers in the sense that an Electric Pokémon using an Electric attack would do more damage than say... A Fighting Pokémon using the same attack.
Now it's got all these convoluted ways of catching and evolving Pokémon, plus things like EV training and such that I can't even BEGIN to get my head around!
Confusing!

Yeah, but what about the grad school level? I mean, each attack has a specific base power. Designed so that once you multiply in all of the other factors a specific number of hit points will be removed. Try to figure out which attack to use, like "the enemy has 30 HP left. Should I use a 100% effective 5 HP attack, or go for the 20% effective 30% effect?"

Oh, I do agree with you.. It's pretty difficult stuff, and with all the new attacks that keep happening, it's tough to even keep up! Despite having the Diamond/Pearl games, I know very few of the new attacks! But I've never really looked into the game so complexly before!

I'm still looking for the time and money to buy and play Emerald. Besides, I have a habit of playing the "third" games, altough somehow I doubt there will be a third counterpart to D/P.

Yeah, I think you're right there. I just started Fire Red yesterday though. It's a much needed remake, I think, because it gets everything just right in a game! It's just the old Red.. Fancied up and very minute edits made.

Yeah, but with my habit of playing third games, should I get FireRed or LeafGreen?
Anime

They're both essentially one and the same. Just get the colour you prefer the most (or failing that, the one with the Pokémon you prefer on the cover - Charizard for Red and Venusaur for Green).
I just implore that you don't miss out on it - it still has some of the mechanics of the newer games (specifically R/S/E), but you can only catch the OLD Pokémon in it. They added some new islands on the end where you can catch some (but not all of) the G/S/C Pokémon, too.

Like I've said before, old school Pokemon aren't so bad.

Good! I also got Volume 2 of the Indigo League boxset in the mail the other day - it's amazing how much of the content of it has stuck in my head despite not watching in a time!

Yeah, I thought so! After a certain point in the series (when Misty leaves, I guess), I just didn't watch, so it's nice to reminisce and see the older episodes when the show was great!

Yeah, I look forward to revisiting Kanto again. I'm not going to debate when the show jumped the shark, but you have a point.

Definitely not - that's a debate that could be thrown at on so many angles; for example, so many people disliked the Orange Islands (I wasn't totally fond, but it wasn't BAD), or Johto (I can see why people held something against this one - a heck of a lot of filler) even. My personal opinion is just that when things went to the Ruby/Sapphire generation, that I -personally- lost interest. Some people still like it now, but well.. It's like anything, hey?
Loving my visit to Kanto though; there were definitely some less-than-standard episodes, but it is still great stuff and definitely my favourite season.
But yeah.. Not debating or anything, haha.

I thought the Orange Islands were okay. It was nice to see Gym Battles that didn't rely on fighting. Especially that ice canoe one. Choosing which three Pokemon for that task would definately take a bit of understanding what your Pokemon specifically can do.
