shagbark...with your unerring eye for detail, you might like to check out the page for Pierce the Pirates boat yourself.
You could also refer to the books written by one Douglas Adams at some point too.
I'm sure that, with enough research, you might realise that the vessel in question is actually named
THE BLOOD OF THE ZAPHODISTAS , named after ZAPHOD BEEBLEBROX
is this ringing any bells ??
or has someone swopped the 'D' and the 'N' keys on your keyboard and you haven't noticed yet ??
with kind regards...

History lesson
shagbark Posted Jul 26, 2002
Well, looks like it's time for a history lesson.
You weren't here in March 2001 I was.
A group of researchers was upset with the bbc takeover and started a
revolutionary movement, taking their name from a
mexican group Their page A521443 was written in March of 2001
and they got a lot of critisism for comparing themselves to real revolutionaries. The original mexicans were named after
Emiliano Zapata [Broken link removed by Moderator]
two months later Pierce started his pirate ship and changed the spelling to Zaphod. Maybe he told you that it was named after the
character in Adams book but I don't recall him ever publicly stating such a thing.

here is another link to Emiliano Zapata in case that one doesn't work.

OK Smartbark...
I rather think that you have been sucking some bad hootch out of that old still you've got hidden in the woods out behind the trailer park.
Now...PAY ATTENTION !!
1.ZAPATISTA...follower of mexican revolutionary Zapata.
2.ZAPHODISTA...almost a homonym of #1 above, based on a character created by Douglas Adams: ZAPHOD Beeblebrox. (therein lies the humour, its a sort of a pun, i'm told they can be quite effective).
3.ZAPHONISTA...also a homonym of #1, not, however, based on any known character, fictional or otherwise, but continually appearing in your postings.
You are, of course, perfectly entitled to continue in the error of your ways.
Personally, i find it hilarious that you have *served* so long on this mighty vessel without bothering to find out her real name.
However, I take a dim view of your butting in on a conversation which i had just started, addressed specifically to someone other than yourself.
A conversation which is not on the 'Wind Force Twelve'page and has nothing whatsoever to do with you, as you had already decided to go back to the boat and sit in the crows nest.
That you should interrupt the conversation with inaccurate information
(ie: you got the name of the boat wrong)
is merely the steam rising from your freshly deposited contribution.
butt on out.
with kind regards,

I'm sorry if I butted into your conversation but you know that kind of thing happens regularly on h2g2, I'm not the only one who does it.

shagbark...
did nobody ever tell you that a 'sorry' is negated when followed by a 'but' in the same sentence??
it means "i'm sorry, but i'm not really"
the fact that you are 'not the only one who does it' is not relevant,
and merely serves to lower my estimation of your character, rather than excuse your apparent arrogance.
May i say that i look forward to your postings, and really enjoy the humorous banter that we have had on occasions. I fail to understand why shagbark would treat alec with such puerile disdain.

Alec,
I would like to remind you that attempting to start a flame war is against the <./>HouseRules</.>, which you agreed to abide by when you joined this site. Relevent paragraph:
'Please, no flaming or trolling. On h2g2, flaming means posting something that's angry and mean-spirited - the online equivalent of flying off the handle. It's not a pretty sight, and we recommend constructive discussion as a far more satisfying pastime. Trolls say deliberately provocative things just to stir up trouble - it's not polite, so please don't do it. h2g2 is an incredibly friendly place, so please help to keep it that way.'
A member of the community has expressed discomfert over some of the things that you've said in this thread, so I'd like you to calm down, take a deep breath and make sure that this doesn't go any further.
Thanks (hopefully) for your co-operation,
Robert (Assistant Community Editor (Ace))

thanks ace

apology accepted. And be assured I will try to spell the ship correctly but you know me , sometimes I can't even spell my own name right.
