she got her results on friday and didn't do as well as she'd hoped so very upset. she still did ok though. BSc(hons) biology 2:2
I think she's done really well but everyone compares them selves with their friends.

2:2? Thats fantastic! It is fraustrating I guess if shes comparing herself to her friends, but a 2:2 isnt at all bad. What does she want to do with her degree?

she wants to work in plant science so needs to do an MSC but won't get funding without a 2:1 but there are ways around it...I know them all working in universities .She'll get there will just take longer.

Yeah I guess its a bit trickier, but its worth talking to people. Maybe she can get away with working for a year in an area similar to plant sciences (i know little about that), gaining experience and using that t o build up her CV when applying. They might overlook her degree result if they see she has experience.

If she gets a job in a university lab they will pay her fees to do a part time masters as part of staff development.also doing voluntary work/ work experience will gain experience and a way in. It just takes longer thats all.

That sounds great. I know it'll take longer, but she also builds up experience. It makes finding a job after the MSc a lot easier, as she has some work experience. In fact this is probably a far superior way of doing things than if she had done it directly!

i just had to resit a few exams. I had passed the assessed work part, and the dissertation. It was just a few exams that I needed to pass. I'll find out in the next few weeks if I passed them this time round or not...
