I've been offline for a few days so am catching up with life on-line.

I'm sorry if I inadvertently offended you by starting the "Do people with dyslexia 'suffer'" conversation.

My reason behind it was that I don't like anyone being labelled with anything and I wanted people to think about the terminology we use to describe people's differences. I would always say 'people with dyslexia' rather than 'dyslexics' - because the latter term seems to ignore the fact that the person is more important than the dyslexia.

I also feel that it's other people's attitudes towards dyslexia that cause most of the problems and suffering - rather than the dyslexia itself. I can only go by what my own brother experienced as he was growing up - and he's been lucky that his dyslexia isn't that severe. I do appreciate that other people may have had completely different experiences to him.

I don't feel I'm explaining myself very well - but my honest intention was to help, not to pour further oil on the fire.

As I've said before in another discussion - H2G2 covers Life, The Universe and Everything so there's room here for all of us AND our differences. The strength of this site is the diversity of its members. Vive la difference! You and I appreciate this - and so do lots and lots of others - the ones who don't are a tiny minority and I try to ignore them!

He/she/it has since been to my page and told me I'm a terrible mother. How sweet.

whoever it is...and I suspect I know who she is.....is a coward as well as a bigot.god help any children this person has! How sad too that they have to hide and haven't got the courage of their convictions. At least we are not afraid to stand by what we say for Tefkat .
