So, if someone asks you for reassurance, is it always best to give it?

Almost every time I have reassured someone that "everything will be fine" I have known, or at least felt compelling strongly that it would, in fact, be alright. I also have an uncanny knack of getting this right. (Doesn't work for myself yet)

So now I (again) find myself wanting to reassure someone that things will be turn out the way they want, but I don't believe they will.
(Is that quite vague enough?smiley - smiley)

What should I do/say?

You should always reassure people. what ever happens in life most of us survive so things will work out . When I'm at work and students come with sometimes horrendous problems I always say "don't worry we can do something to help" and it calms them down and then i can look at the logistics of what feasible help I can give. sometimes that help is simply passing them on to someone else , an organisation such as Shelter for example. You sound like a nice guy Mikesmiley - hug

I am a social scientist. I teach psychology and sociology up to and including post graduate level and teach people how to teach( from classroom assistants to lecturers) and sometimes do counselling work.
At the moment however I am unemployed - waiting to hear about a new contract.I cost too much these days so younger and less qualified people get the jobs. that's life I'm afraid.smiley - sigh

not really. I've submitted a couple of articles to journals to see if I can get then published which might be a new career step. I've looked at loads of options but the jobcentre said my age is against me and I'm overqualified. smiley - erm unfortunately I can't do anything about eithersmiley - laugh
