smiley - doh Ooops missed this conversation....

For £200 or less you oughta be able to get something pretty decentish with a pretty decent action.. as to where to go, the obvious I guess, guitar shops and the like, and if you've a friendly and local guy or gal who knows a fair bit about guitars, you can often get some good deals looking round the lower end of the market second hand shops, but you'll need someone with an eye to see what is and what isn't any good; I've occasionally seen guitars in places like cash conveters that were just utter rip offs... and simularly I've seen guitars they've totally failed to recognize what they were and hence what they're worth; I had a pretty decent Fender strat, that was only atwo or three years old at the time, that I got from cash converts for I think about £100 albeit quite some years back now; It looked brand new, had probably spent a year or two in a guitar shop, been bought by a student in town that September, and got converted to cash some time when they're loan ran out near the Christmas hols... at the time that particular fender strat would have cost more like £500 if bought new from digital village just down the road smiley - snorksmiley - doh
Got a nice washburn electric I think that was £250 from a guitar shop but I haggled em down to that from £300...
Also picked up a fantastic Yamaha pacifica from a guitar shop; the previous owner has customised it with some pretty decent pick ups, and then the shop obviously found they couldn't really sell it for what it was then worth, as the pacifica tend to be cheapish guitars new... Think that cost about £200; if I@d wanted to buy the pick ups the previous owner had put in, new, at taht time would have cost more than the guitar with them in smiley - snorksmiley - doh
I'm not great at advising on this stuff any more though relaly.... I bought a brand new guitar a year or so back, and just wish I'd spent that* much a decade or so earlier as its just taken me so long to end up with the right guitar and the guitar I've laways wanted... pretty expensive I guess at about £800, but I'd probably spent more* than that on guitars over the years each costing about £200 or so smiley - snorksmiley - doh
But really the differnce between many of the guitars you can get at the two hundred pound mark, and those costing two three or four times as much, is only in the minuti of the detail really I guess... smiley - doh
smiley - goodluck
