Hi Legster!
I've been trying to amalgamate 2 computers into one recently, to get the best of both working. F19585?thread=7191077
I'm now trying to get music playing in both the office and the living room, and as music is one of your many areas of expertise, I thought you might be able to help me. Basically, I have two sets of speakers but only one speaker socket on the back of the computer. Do you know how I can convert one of the other music sockets to play the same as the speaker socket?
Thanks!
RF

Oops missed this whilst I were away... and Now I'm not away... or am i
So, you've a PCE soundcard with teh sockets at teh rear of the PC? Which is it?
I don't think you'll be able to make it think that two sets are both outputs, unless you have two sets of outputs on teh soundcard, I'm trying to remember as its been a while since I had an internally fitted soudncard of the kind I'm guessing you've got... I'll try having a think; otherwise an alterntive that oughta work would be to get a splitter cable/adaptor; basically a single 3.5 MM plugged into the soundcard that splits into two 3.5 MM sockets; to plug the two sets of speakers into... that oughta* work but it may reduce the volume down quite a bit but that oughta not matter too much as you've usueally got plenty of spare volume on the speakers anyhow...
What sort of 'outputs' and 'inputs' as the soundcard got already?:
Another thing, on the soundcard itself, if its got a extra 'output' connector on the card itself, you might be able to run a cable internally inside the PC to a output socket on the front of the PC case, whilst still having the socket on the rear availible, But fraid I'm not to up on the dirty bits of actually messing about wiring up internal soundcards to the PC itself as I let my geek lodger do all the bits that need doing inside the PC itself
*thinks*
If its got a headphone out and* a 'audio out' or 'speakers out', both oughta work fine as ouputs to powered speakers I'd imagine (I know the headphones out on my netbook sounds fine on the HiFi just running a cable between the two )
Key: Complain about this post
