Even though Rich the Rhino isn't coming, the Birmingham Mini-Meet is still on for Saturday 25th April - from 1pm at the Starbucks near the Sea Life Centre (by New Street Station), AND h2g2 Prez Hypatia will be there!
If you think you can make it, drop in here A44851836 and let us know

I think I would rather encounter you Hyp, than a rhino (other than Rich). Looking forward to meeting you.

I haven't been to the Sea Life Centre for a few years Matt, but it is quite a long walk from New Street station. Is the Starbucks near New Street station or the Sea Life Centre?
Perhaps it is 'near' for you because you are young. Us would find it quite a walk.
I think a map would be handy.

True, I'll look into it - Vip might be best to answer that tho, I'm a Nottingham lad and don't know Birmingham that well...

Matt, you can Google maps for the Sea Life Centre and New Street Station and you will see what I mean. There are short cuts but it is still a fair walk.

Oh, I've googled and the Starbucks is nowhere near the Sea Life! The Starbucks is by the Station..my mistake

Ok. If the Sea Life Centre is too far to walk, how far is the Birmingham Art Museum? The one near that big fountain? That's a nice place to visit. Like Websailor, I'm not a kid anymore.
Or we could take a cab and split the cost.

Thanks for checking. I will think about it. Somewhere easy to find. You know, under the clock type of thing
Must get offline for now. Back tomorrow.

Hyp, if you know the short cuts it is probably not too bad. I have arthritis which is playing up in this wet weather. I am hoping it will be nicer by then.
I hope to do a dry run early next week as I need to go in to town anyway. I would like people to see the nice parts of Birmingham to dispel the view some people have of it.
I will bear the cab idea in mind.
I must go before my other half pulls the plug on me

I've linked to a map showing all the Starbucks, but I'm sure we'll sort it out closer to the date. I'm happy to give my mobile number out to those who want it, just email me
