Meetings

It's strange when you stop getting invited to meetings.

Part of me feels relieved because I don't need to spend all day in an enclosed space in summer with a group of hot people. But an increasingly loud voice inside my head says that this is a bad sign.

Loud music and empty offices...

The flu virus and holiday season has taken a fair toll on the occupants in my room, I think I successfully infected all of them.

So today I sit by myself, which means I can play all my music out loud without fear of offence or distraction.

It is always the little things in life that make a day a wonderful place to be.

Summer Haze

The fresh green leaves are beginning to asphyxiate in the city.

The sunlight on the streets turns from bright fresh colours to a smog filtered haze. Toxic fumes stain the oxygen a chemical flavour, as the streetlife starts sneezing, spluttering and inhaling poison.

I remember standing on my roof a year ago and clearly seeing a dirty yellow dome of pollution arcing over my city whilst a child coughed petrol fumes on the road below.

Head Flu

The mind fog is beginning to clear, I'm just back at work after the strangest flu I have ever had.

It seemed like an emotional illness, affecting my outlook on my life. Being ill has got me down in the past, but not to this extent, I felt like a vampire bat, upside down and blind. It came along and hammered any perspective I had out of me. It made me realise how much I rely on my optimism to propel me through my day and how necessary human contact and support can be.

My throat is still sore but things are feeling better and brighter around me.
