Pubic Symphysis Disfunction

Has anyone heard of it? Dead painful, I'll have you know, and apparently I have it. It basically means that, without painkillers, and sometimes even with them, I can hardly walk, dress up, turn around in bed, stand, or sneeze, 'coz the pain in my pelvis is very bad. Doesn't affect the baby, but really gets me down.
If anyone knows what to do when you have this- I'm open to suggestions.
Elly

smiley - cuddle I am so sorry Elly. I've never heard of that in my life. Is it a side-result of the pregnancy? How long will it take to go away? Can you take anything to minimize the pain?

I'm glad to know that the baby is okay, but what a difficult thing to have to go through. Have you been given medical leave? Are you able to at least rest well?

I have you in my prayers!smiley - cheerup

Hi Elly

Just popped over from the thread with no words. I'll add you to my friends list if thats ok then I can check on your progress and you won't have to update everyone separately (what a journal is useful for)

I read just about every book there is when I was pregnant, but nothing about babies which was a bit shortsighted! I've never heard of the above, Is it permanent of just while you are pregnant? Sounds dreadfulesp as you can't take too many painkillers either smiley - sadface
back to tidying,
take care

Apparently it's far more common than people think, a lot of women suffer from this and are told this is just 'pregnancy pains'. It has different levels of severity, so I for one can still work, though I am going to see a Physiotherapist about it next week. The gave me Codeine for it, but with the iron tablets it makes me so constipated I'd rather take nothing, or Paracetamol if I have to.
It's worst when I try and roll in bed, and wake up almost every time I need to change positions. Getting out of bed and getting dressed isn't much easier, either.
Reading about it just depresses me further, but this is a good site for information: www.spd-uk.org
They say it can go away a few months after birth, or stick around. Depends on the person.smiley - yikes It sometimes gets so debilitating you need to use wheelchairs and crutches... I'm not there, thank god, and nor do I want to get there, which is why I'm desperately looking for advice.

Hi BK! Didn't see you there!smiley - smiley
Yes, I've read most of the information on this website, too. It's quite similar to the one on the link I posted. Sadly, Chiropractors are really expensive, or I'd go to see one and have my pelvis aligned.
Thanks for the input.smiley - hug

No, not long to go. 34 weeks gone by today. 6 left. 3 of them will be spent at home. Can't complain much, I guess.

I have, yes. It was a while back, and has ground into a halt, sadly. I'd love to resurrect it if you have some material for it.
