All about me, rorschach...
If you're ever in Amsterdam, look out for some weird Englishman hanging out, maybe in the Leidseplein - that'll be me...
You should recognise me by the way I walk (with my cane here at my side), the accent when I talk, the fact that I drink tea, and like my toast done on one side etc. No, wait a minute - that was Sting, and he wasn't referring to Amsterdam either.
Oh well, scratch that idea. In a place with over three quarters of a million folk crammed into a space that's just a postage stamp in comparison to its neighbour in the capital city stakes, London, you stand no chance of seeing me streak by.
Still, you can take heart from the knowledge that, while you're there, you'll be in one of the most cultural places anywhere on the planet, and your fellow countrymen (no matter where you hail from) will never be too far away.
As you might have discerned by now, I'm an English, twenty-something (the clock is ticking on that one, though!) and I've made the 'Dam' my home for the last few years... I'm planning to add entries on some of the different facets of Dutch culture sometime in the near future.
My current areas of expertise include New Year's mega-rocket-modifications to bicycles and repairs, fireworks, and how to bandage firework burns...
