Good to know that you had a nice time on holiday, even if you did have to fake it a bit on the skin colouring
Monday, 17th October - 6pm
I've placed an account (Beta) properky on the leaderboard today, with a 13th place Sadly it won't last as this account only got one of the two win bonuses correct, so it will get swamped tomorrow, and probably disappear out of the top 30.
The other accounts are ticking along quite nicely. The playing account that did get both of the win bonuses correct (Alpha) won't be in play for TT tomorrow, sadly, as it is still suffering the effects of not day-trading through last week's divi period. Though I do expect it to make a considerable jump up the table from its current position of 206th.
The capping account (Delta) was another one that got both win bonuses correct, and as I type is sitting there with just shy of £6m in the coffers.
This brings me to an interesting dilemma - what to do with Tuesday's Champions League first scorer in the Arsenal / Man Utd matches win bonus?
The problem that I have is that I'm going to be at the New Den watching Sheffield United take on Millwall that evening. So I'll be gone from here from between about 5pm and midnight. If I play the win bonus, then I'll b stuck with a non-performing share for a number of hours, as I won't be here to dip in and out. If I don't play the win bonus, then I'm losing out on potential wonga.
Hmm... I'll have to have a think about this one

It's not bad, it's not bad at all
And as an aside, this sudden introduction of a Man Utd related win bonus for tomorrow night, has propelled Shrek's shares to second on the winners & losers list, at an eye-watering £16.67 per share.
Do these muppets not realise that at that kind of price you make no return what-so-ever on your investment

Still the 17th October, now 11pm
I'm thinking through my strategy for the divi period and the win bonus on Tuesday, and I'm still not sure quite how I'm going to play it.
There's been quite a lot of talk of Terrence for a divi/WB combo. I'm not convinced myself. Arsenal are playing like crap; the chap has been rushed back from injury for the event; and at £4.39 a share he is pricey, though he does come with some day-trade prospects.
My personal favourite (assuming I play for the WB at all) is one of:
1) day-trade through Tuesday and buy van Nistelrooy for the WB - currently £3.65. Then if he scores first stay there for the dividend. If he doesn't score first, get out and continue day-trading
2) Or, buy the cheapest Man Utd player at the WB deadline who has a chance of scoring - Ronaldo at £2.91 looks promising. Then sell up and continue day-trading.
All that is assuming that I want to play for the WB. Well I'm not sure that I do want to as it's quite high risk and I'd be throwing good money away on commission charges.
Day-trade straight through might just be the answer. Particularly as I'm not going to be around to pull out my shares from a WB shareholding.

Tuesday, 18th October - Lunchtime
LHG, go back and read post #544 again
Well it's Top Trader day today, and I'm not it.
For some reason I always over-estimate how badly I'm going to do if I get something wrong. I did say that the Beta account was going to slide down the table after picking the wrong winner in the Leeds v Bradford match.
Well it's true, it *did* slide. All of one place to 14th
I've done a few calculations as to what would have happened if I had picked the right winner in that account. And the message is I would have placed 2nd today behind one of the very very best Sportdaq players, Suenos.
The other account which I suggested would go up the table has. And it's climed further than I thought it would. The Alpha account is now placed 22nd, and that *with* a disasterous divi run last week still in its numbers.
Gosh. Maybe most other people at the top end of the league are not as good as I think them to be. And that I can do well even when I do make mistakes!

Wednesday, 19th October -
We are top o'the league, we are top o'the league!
And by that I mean that Sheffield United has extended its lead in the Championship to 5 points over Reading, with a convincing four-nil thrashing of Millwall at their home of the New Den.
And I'm top of the Sportdaq Leaderboard with my Alpha account
I knew that that account was going to rise up the board because of the way that the returns from last week's dividend period are peeled away from the account. But I genuinely wasn't expecting to go top. I was thinking top 10 maybe.
Not only am I top; I'm top by quite a convincing margin. I've got a 7-day return of 1,545% and the chap in second place is some 80% behind at 1,464% (and third place another 80% back from that).
Of course all good things do come with a downside - I've already been hacked twice this morning

When you try to post something it comes up with a message that you've been temporarily locked out of your account, and that you need to enter the answer to your secret question to unlock it again.
Fortunately the hackers didn't extend to having a bash at the answer to the secret question, as that would lock the account for half an hour.

For the same reason that people slash the seats on buses and spray paint their names on walls. It's just vandalism pure and simple.
I have suggested to the staff running the Sportdaq site that they give us the option of changing the nickname that is displayed on the site - it shouldn't be too difficult, Celebdaq have the function and they run on the same software - but to no avail yet.

At the risk of sounding old ... I really dont understand that kind of behaviour ... Its a bit like this Happy Slapping craze - OJ's teenagers think its really funny and but I dont get what pleasure there is to be had from going up to some innocent stranger and hitting them while recording your crime (and it is a crime)
Dont tell me you play Celebdaq as well? If you do whats your nickname there It does however sound like a sensible solution

I don't play Celebdaq, no. I've got no interest in the celebrity obsessed world that we live in. Just for comparison purposes to show the effect of celebrity. David Beckham costs £6.57 on Sportdaq, but 100 times that much on Celebdaq

How strange. If you put in a line break in the posting it doesn't work. Ho hum... no more return key for me for the time being!
