I'd been hoping that there might be some kind of anti-war demo or meeting in my area, so I could go and vent some anger about American arrogance and Blair's blind loyalty. Now there is one - a meeting organised by the Stop The War Coalition, in Bradford and with George Galloway MP as the star speaker.
Just one snag. The meeting starts at 3pm tomorrow, and so does Bradford City v Burnley.
Maybe I could go to the match and shout anti-war slogans?

DOWN WITH TURF MOOR IMPERIALISM!
No, doesn't quite work, does it?
Actually, I'll be going to the match, feeling slightly guilty. I missed our last home game for a h2g2 meet, and I can't bear to miss two in a row.
Besides, let's face it, me going to the anti-war meeting wouldn't change much. It's nice to imagine Donald Rumsfeld rushing into the Oval Office and saying 'Mr President, I've just heard that Ormondroyd was so angry about us that he was willing to miss a local derby to protest. Better call the whole thing off' - but I can't see it, somehow. I've already written to my MP, so that'll have to do as my peace effort for now.

There are those who would say that going to the game won't change much either. But I'm not one of them

I am very glad that I witnessed my boys' heroic refusal to surrender in the face of outrageous official oppression. We are appealing against both sendings-off, and can be very proud of our point.

As our noble leader Nicky Law said after the game: 'It was nine men against 12 out there... If the referee had carried on the way he was going, we would have had another Sheffield United on our hands and had the game abandoned'.

Guess who couldn't get a ticket for the SheffU v Brighton game
There were only 750 available and the whole lot went the morning they were put on sale.
What a terrible position to be in, an away game almost within walking distance, and I'm not going
It's not as if there will be a chance next year either. What with Brighton being in Division 2 and us in the Premiership...

If it's any consolation, in my days of living in London and going to watch Leyton Orient, I always found Brighton's fans to be a particularly unpleasant, mindlessly aggressive bunch. So from that point of view at least, maybe you've had a lucky escape.
I considered going to Sheffield for today's Wednesday v Bradford game, but my best Bradford-watching buddy couldn't go and a train strike made the travel arrangements difficult, so I decided to spend the money on books instead. I'll listen to the local radio commentary this afternoon and find out if I made the right decision!

By the sounds of things it was a good decision to save your money and stay home for the day
We got a bit of a scare at Withdean going down 2-0 by half time. (I wouldn't have like to have been in the dressing room when Warnock gave our players a rocket - that guy can scream when he really wants to!) And then we come back with two goals and two dodgy penalty decisions to come up 4-2
My only problem now is that I have to go into town to meet up with Lighthousegirl and I'm wearing my Blades shirt

You COULD change. But I don't suppose you want to after that performance!
Please give my regards to . I'm going to the movies to take my mind off our inability to get a result against ten men (or rather, ten Piggies).
