Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences

Hi there-
As part of my continuing series on Little Eaton (okay, so it's only the second, but there will be more I promise ) I have just written : A729560 Old Alice in the Bacon Box- The Little Eaton Hermit. Trouble is, I'm not happy with style, probably because it's based on something I wrote when I was at school. I don't want to stick it in peer review yet, coz I want to be better first. I would appreciate any comments you might have. Feel free to tell me to b**ger off if you're busy, I'll just find someone else to annoy

Hiya,

To be honest I'm not really the right person to ask about stylistic points in a guide entry, as I can bearly string three words together in a coherent fashion. As witnessed by my dearth of guide entries after being here for over a year smiley - blush

Now I really like what you've written, and my view would be to throw it straight into peer review and let our more wordy colleagues have a go at the style. I reckon you'll be just fine as you've already got a presence over there with the Ghosts entry. My only comment on the entry itself is that the footnote seems a bit confused. Are you talking about 3d or 3 shillings?

Another thing I've thought of, this place is hosting a number of "Sense of Place" sites which are run in conjunction BBC local radio stations. If there is one set up for Derbyshire I'm sure they would love this sort of stuff.

I've checked on the Sense of Place sites. There isn't one for Derbyshire yet, but thats not to say that one won't appear at some point in the future. Keep your eyes peeled smiley - smiley
