I'll share the joke with you, since you gave me two opportunities to laugh at absurdity before I've even finished my this morning. That's a great start for a rainy Saturday.
1) >What really 'hold things together' is 'love'. The problem is scientists can't quantify it <
>This is my home space. Go away - it is my property<
2) I considered whether or not it was appropriate to reply to your post in the SEx thread, as SEx, by it's very nature, is no place for discussion about the non-quantifiable aspects of Love.

It probably wasn't but it seemed to be getting terribly, heavy, pedantic and dull. I just thought it needed lightening up. On the more serious side - there are still many things we don't understand and - as such - refuse to consider. Rummy's 'unknown unknowns'

Those SEx forum threads are supposed to be pedantic, and I'm sure they'll appear heavy and dull to people who aren't interested in the answers. To *me* it wasn't at all boring, because I am beginning the process of learning about how Science describes the world, and the books I'm reading sometimes begin with the assumption that the reader already has a certain familiarity with the basics of the subject. So SEx is perfect for those of us who need a little more help, and fortunately some of the SExperts have the capacity to explain and draw analogies that make jargon clear and meaningful.
SEx is a recent addition to h2g2, and part of the reason it came into being is that discussions elsewhere were being consistently mutated into circular shouting matches between people who *insisted* on either Science or on their interpretation of the Bible as being the only valid approach to answering questions, with no middle ground. Now *that* got to be dull and heavy after a while, as it wasn't going anywhere. So SEx was made to be a place *for* scientific explanations, with the understanding that the unknown Unknowns are not the kind of questions Science is suited to answering.

No problem
Just wanted to let you know what to expect when you happen across those tantalizing SEx: threads.
