U161490 to some...
"Write an introduction," they say, so write an introduction I will...
My name is Bob Berrow, though due to an ancient mistype I have been known on-line as BoB for longer than I care to remember.
I am husband to Margie and "father" to a cat called Tom (or it seems like it at times). I work at the University of Plymouth in the UK.
As I am from the UK, may I suggest than our American cousins run any entries than I may post through an on-line UK-to-US translator to gain a full understanding. However this will delete any irony or sarcasm in the entries so it may make them rather brief... (they are cars, and they run on petrol which is a liquid, not a gas. NB this is a joke!).
I have been interested in THHGTTG (sorry h2g2 as it now seems to be called (it is certainly shorter...)) since it was first broadcast in the seventies on BBC Radio 4 when I was less than a third of my present age (watch the mathematicians involuntary try to work that one out). Of course it was for the comedy then, but now this h2g2 site might actually prove to be useful. Downloading pages to my PDA will be the closest I may get to my boyhood dream of actually owning a device that works in a similar way to the real Guide. How sad am I!
Does h2g2 actually contain any entries from the original (if I can call it that) guide?
At some point I might try my hand at putting an entry or two on-line, until then.
Happy Times!
BoB

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
