Traveller in Time on his head
"As am I.
I tried to take the appropriate actions ( and alert the real Site Hosts)"
Hi there :)
BDG Posted Nov 22, 2006
Wondered where you were thought you'd be on your head
I alerted them too, but last night there was no one around and of course you can't a host posting can you, even if they are bogus?
This has got to be the weirdest thing I've ever seen on the boards don't you think?

Hi there :)
BDG Posted Nov 22, 2006
Thanks except she is totally wrong and out of order because Patio Heaters was an ON topic subject discussed on the JV show yesterday! So rather rude I think and offensive to many posters!
That was provoked the thread about censorship that then lead to the R2 Host imposter appearing how do we know this Jane is geninue it's a first time post or is it all part of the wind-up and inflitration? Still no doubt they are investigating!
Plus why when you refresh that page with her message on why do the "italics" of her name do they disappear and go to normal text?
What everyone is worried about that is that if someone can access a hosts log-in could they do it with anyones?

Traveller in Time calculating
"Think the 'radio_2' was just hacked while the account had a weak password.
ing Hosts is never a wise thing to do, just accept they are in control and probably have a wider picture of the event then we do.
Besides think about it would the moderators really remove the message ? My idea was to reply to the rejection email and in that way alerting the real Hosts."
Hi there :)
BDG Posted Nov 22, 2006
I don't think they do necessarily have a view of the wider picture in R2 that doesn't really make sense. Either it was ON topic or it wasn't surely? If you listen to the show and send an email you get a reply saying post your comments then a link to the board, so it would have been very off-putting to a new user who then finds themselves told off for posting on a topic that was on the show?
You can't reply to an email if the thread is closed can you because you don't get one in the first place?
I wasn't necessarily going to complain but it was well out of order whether they remove it or not isn't really the point in a way is it? We still don't know for sure she is a host yet anyway because nothing has been said or an explanation given.
Regarding a weak password surely a host's password and accessing the system must be more difficult than accessing a "normal" user who could also have a weak password?
Thanks for the info though you are a as usual.

Traveller in Time waiting for the emails
"I did last night, but as I did not get any reply the best practice is to stay put until more information is available. "
Hi there :)
BDG Posted Nov 22, 2006
Well done it took them until I said to Peta about it this morning to do something though, so much for the mods acting last night when you complained because the messages stayed until then. I've waited and.....
All has been revealed by Jane she has apologised for closing the Patio Heaters thread and re-opened it. It has been confirmed that someone hacked into the R2 hosts account because of a weak password as you thought.
The only fall out is that a couple of regular posters who did make a point this morning are now in pre-mod which seems a little unfair.
Anyway apart from that alls well that ends well.
Thanks again because I wouldn't have known how to complain about a false host with no triangle.

Morning
Everything seems to be back to normal today Was that the first time you know of, that someone managed to hack into BBC Host's account?
I found this while I was looking for something.

I know you take an interest in these things so I wasn't sure whether you were aware of it but you probably are
Have a good day.

Hi
What do you reckon then the sudden annoucement of the clousure of the R2 boards!?
Fate must have played a hand because strangely we came here a few nights ago!
There is no choice we have to merge with the h2g2 community I'm glad to see that an ACE has taken this onboard! What really annoys me is how the Archers always seem exempt from it all
We are going to need your help and I know you will be there for us, helping the people to migrate. Some how I think it will end up with nothing apart from h2g2 in terms of message boards it's only a matter of time!
Will make my feelings known though on DNA feedback mainly because they support a minor board for a minor league football league in Bristol yet they cannot support a board for N&CA on the main station in the UK seems bizarre to me!

Sorry to intrude here, but the allotment thread has been closed - I guess because of your mentioning of a way to cheat the system. Here's wjhat I tried to post there:
You know, I guess the easiest way would be to sign up with h2g2, ie, create an account here if they're really interested. What you are talking about does work now and then, but they're exceptions to the rule. I think most people wouldn't even have to change their nicknames, so that should be ok. As I said, if you can't leave a message to me, post here and I will reply.
(And TiT should know better by now )

Traveller in Time with a day jah view
"Thing is: individuals coming over are not a problem, they will have to adapt to HooToo. When a group comes over specially when 'their' board is closed, something else is at stake.
Why did the Radio 2 board close ? Probably a budget matter.
Would HooToo like to cover this extra load whithout the 'crowd' becoming active Researchers ? Think not.
Best policy is to keep a low profile as Radio 2 refugees, in other words: become Researchers. A first step would be to try to write the story of the Radio 2 boards, if you manage to get it Edited, both have profit "

A couplé of my best friends come from radio2 - they've done the step from messageboard to h2g2, and successfully. Everybody can do. Those just searching for anopther messageboard are in the wrong place here.
Hi there :)
BDG Posted Dec 5, 2006
Thanks guys for support!
It's all so sudden as you say no resources yet for 2 years NO HOST and now we have one all of a sudden a HOST but with NO boards to host!!!!!!!!!!! Bizarre?! or what
B'Elana I don't know you I don't think R2 N&CA was about just a messageboard it was a community including one of the contributors to the JV show ie Terry (Allotment) posting only yesterday! So much for the BBC being interactive?
They are out of order IMO particularly when the Archers remains, no consultation and a bleeding England board that supports a minor football league exists for that reason only?! IE BRISTOL. JV has over 5 million listners I'm sure that far exceeds the listners of the Archers.
I agree about R2 crowd contributing to the Guide I've said it on numerous occasions to the moaners and groners on the R2 & S&M board but to no avail (I personally dont' have the knowledge to do it!) although Pamela does Not sure about an entry on R2 MB?!
At the end of the day it's a mess. I'm sure you would agree if h2g2 was pulled at a moments notice you lot wouldn't be happy would you?!!!! Why is it any different for us that have friends and a life around it?!!!!!
It's all down to poor resourcing and hosting that's caused the mess in the first place I'm sure Peta would agree because she's been picking up the pieces ever since we went DNA!
