...to the Guide. I'm an Angel (The Patron Saint of Silly Names!). I have volunteered to help people who are new to the
community learn the 'ropes'.
Let's start with places to go.
The Aces (http://www.h2g2.com/ACEs) - The 'official' welcome group, here to answer any questions you might have about how the
guide works.
The Angels (http://www.h2g2.com/A300943) - The 'unofficial' welcome group, will assign you your own guardian Angel to look
after you. We have also set-up a new-user page for you (http://www.h2g2.com/A352667)
Reasearcher's Birthdays (http://www.h2g2.com/A293195) - Leave your birthday in a forum and be added to the list.
If you want to see what's happening at this very moment try going here - http://www.h2g2.com/INFO
Your Space
You can leave pretty much anything you want there. At first it'll be easier for you to make a page in Plain Text. As you get
more used to the feel of the Guide you'll want to use GuideML which is h2g2's answer to HTML. For more help on using that
please visit the GuideML Clinic (http://www.h2g2.com/GuideML-CLinic)
Writing Guide Entries
If you are a budding writer and you feel it's time the Guide included something that's missing why not add a guide entry. For
more details look at the Peer-Review page (http://www.h2g2.com/PeerReview). To help you understand fully the kind of things
you should be writing the folks at h2g2 have made a Writing Guidelines Page! (http://www.h2g2.com/Writing-Guidelines)
Forums
A Forum is the place to discuss an entry or a user's space. This is a Forum
In a forum you can use a whole load of smileys including:
: then - then ) for
; then - then ) for
8 then - then ) for
: then - then P for
: then - then ( for
> then < then > for

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me! Posted Nov 19, 2000
Welcome again.
Hi, my name is Bassman and I am one of the A.C.E.s that Silly Willy has just mentioned. I see that he has already given you a comprehensive list of places to go and things to see for a starter..... there's no more for me to add there, so mind your toes as I roll out the red carpet - have a great time at H2G2!
So, what makes you tick?
Welcome...
Tatsuya Posted Nov 19, 2000
Hi there Silly Willy, Bassman. Thanks for the messages. I can't believe I've never heard of H2G2 'til yesterday. Short-attention span eclecticism heaven. I'm hooked!

Don't worry about it, as long as you've got plans to stick around now you've found us!
I suffer from deja vue, and amnesia!
There are some things I swear that I have forgotten before.

Hello, I thought it was time I dropped by to find out how things are going for you?
Welcome...
Tatsuya Posted Nov 20, 2000
Going great thanks Willy. Written two entries so far (no-one has commented on the second yet -- boo hoo, perhaps I got carried away after the praise for the subject matter of the first and made it a bit too esoteric ) and have plans for loads more (see journal).

Suddenly got some interest in it yesterday. I wonder if I detect an Angelic hand at work there somewhere ...
Actually I had a question about Journal entries, if you don't mind me bugging you with it. If I click the "remove this from my space" link will that just remove it from my space (but leave it in my journal forum, which is what I think I probably want most of the time), or will it delete it altogether?

Thanks for the answer, I think? I may not have phrased my question clearly. Anyway I tried a test posting and "deleted" it and it did what I wanted (that is to say it doesn't appear in my space any more, but it stays safely tucked away in my Journal forum at http://www.h2g2.com/F58420 ). So I can clean up "things I think I'll do" entries once I've done them without losing the record of what the hell I was thinking of at the time.

Due to the overwhelming ammont of conversations that I subscribe to as an A.C.E. and active member of the Musician's Guild, I'm having to Unsubscribe to older unanswered messages (Currently running at about 130 messages!! . This doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you.
If you wish to contact me, go to my Space at U47285 and press the "Discuss This Entry" Button. Leave a message and I'll get back to you.
Thanks and 42.

Szia,
I am new to this thing... So I'll start from the beginning. I r writing this only because I read you were a fourth Hungarian, and so am I, a similar proportion. I am from Yugoslavia in the city of Szabadka that borders Hungary. Actually, I am studying Political Sciences at the American University in Bulgaria, which is a dreadful country, if you ask me. I just completed two five thousand words final paper assignments, and am taking off some time. This place is actually pretty neat as I have come to find out. Still, I haven't checked out anything substantive yet, so I cannot really comment on that any more than that. There it goes...
