Global Warming? Chill out!
I'm yet to be convinced that GW is a direct result of anthropogenic activity. Climate fluctuations through the millenia have been commonplace. Could we be experiencing such a natural phenomenon? I must accept that Carbon dioxide (CO2) is increasing in the atmosphere, based upon reported data, but over climatic time this could be balanced by increased biological activities particularly in the oceans where information on the ability to absorb CO2 is somewhat limited. I also accept that we have been emitting an unprecedented quantity of carbon to the atmoshere since the start of the Industrial Revolution. However, at least 50% of the carbon produced since the start of the Industrial Revolution has been taken up by the oceans.
Recent studies on seeding small areas of ocean with iron (Fe), in equatorial regions, to enhance algal growth, have shown that algae can consume vast quantities of CO2 in relatively short periods of time.
My main concern, however, would be the destruction of rain forests on a vast scale, in South America. How much photosynthesis is actually occurring in these ecosystems compared with the vast regions of agriculturally developed areas growing C4 plants (e.g. corn, wheat, oats, rice).
