Just a first draft of my own introduction
Hello!
Please don't panic : I just create this little intro because I was "asked" to by the registration process... As i find more interresting things to say, I'll edit it and make it, perhaps a little bit more useful and/or personal.
I want to join this community (even though I also use a lot the wikipedia...) because I believe that most of the people in here are more than a bit fans of Douglas Adams, and thus this is the kind of community I would like to become a member of... I believe that at some point I will find something to say/add/correct/edit, either new or on an existing entry, so I register now to be able to do it without having to do through the registration process (whoich would make me forget the thing I wanted to say/edit/add/correct because my of the way my memory.. ahem... "works".)
I am not a native english speaker (I am ... French! Sorry for that ...) but I believe that after copious amount of Monty Python viewing/hearing and DNA reading I have become able to really enjoy the way some sentences "sound", and especially the ones that seems to say something and then surprise you. 2 examples I really like:
- from DNA : "the vogon ships were floating in the air almost in the same way as bricks don't"
- from Monty Python's Flying Circus : "your cat is suffering of what, we vets, haven't found a name for"
(Could someone tell me if actually this later example is from one of DNA contribution to the MPFC ? Sounds so much like somthing he could have written...)
Forgive me if these are not the exact words, I cite those 2 exemples "from memory", which is weird, as I often believe to have no memory at all, but I nonetheless seem to be able to have whole sentences memorized, and most often than not in the "not useful but really fun" section... I believe I just have trained my brain to remember those instead of the useful ones, such as the names new people just told me, where I put anything (car, keys, papers, ID, etc) or even what I did in the last 2 minutes, hours, days and even years.
Anyway, here it this "personnal Introduction"'s first draft, and it indeed will act as an incentive to edit it as soon as possible (well, if my memory reminds me of its very existence, that is).
I'll finish by my own "tagline" : "Don't forget to Carpe Diem, and all that sort of things"
Olivier - EdhelDil - aka "Edhel-Dil" (I should have registered that name instead...)
