Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary]

I recently read a book and thought of you. Actually, you might have read it already - it's fairly well-known, and won a Hugo, as well as getting some mainstream critical acclaim (at least over here).
The Yiddish Policemen Union, by Michael Chabon. Have you read it? If so, what did you think?
I mostly enjoyed it, pretty much until the last part. Wasn't too happy with the way he wound it all down (smiley - erm or is it up? I suddenly got confused with the pronouns). But I really liked the world he created in the story, and the way he incorporated Yiddish culture in there, and its speculated development in that world, and all. For someone like me, who mostly doesn't know Yiddish but does have some background in that culture, it was neat to see things such as, say, Asch Street or Peretz Square and know who they were named after. For someone like you, I imagine the experience will be similar (but maybe still different, what with the different background and all).
So, yeah, if you read it I'd love to hear your opinion - and if you have it, I do recommend it.

So, new site! Woo!

Been a while. Did you get a chance to find that book? (I also think I had another thing that I saw and thought I should tell you about, but I no longer remember what it was. smiley - erm Sheesh.)
