That is one of the most impressive "new" homepages I have seen . You really go to the heart of the matter, don't you?

Hi, I'm nim, one of the many un-official welcomers that fly, glide, walk, crawl and ... around here Other welcomers will in due time drop in, but if you have any questions before that you can check out the "h2g2 team" link on the front page and go to one of the groups. Or actually, you can ask anyone and somebody will help you out (not me, I'm a digital moron )

And before I forget it, I was asked to ask you to drop your birthday in the relevant link also at the front page and here are the most necessary items for a successful social life in h2g2: the smileys!!!

Thanks for your warm welcome (gosh, shucks, gee whiz) and I'm delighted to find you standing guard at the Sacred Multidimensional Gate. As a wee giftie for you, I just posted a second Endangered Words alphabet, this one for Academia.

Re the smiley alphabet, does anybody use :-] for their humorless friends?

Do you think anybody's interested in reading longer entries, like a funky history of potato soup that's probably 6 pages long? Or an alternative scenario for the future (about 3 pages) that I call "Bot Wars?"

The technical team is right now busy designing new smileys (I have asked for a cat-smiley myself ), you could ask Peta or Abi to consider your smiley for 'transformation' - I think it is a necessary one ...

There is somewhere "behind" your page (on the page where you edit it0 a link to the guide lines of how serious entries should be written. Check it. History of Potato Soup will almost certainly get approved - or in the new jargon "edited" - if it is comprehensive and intelligible. This means a lot of people will at least skim through it even if they do not leave messages. I doubt if "Bot Wars" will get approved, but You'll never know until you try. And even if it doesn't get approved, with the right advertisement a lot of people will read it

Why don't you write them anyway, and I ask one of my "bosses" that is one of the archangels Galaxy Babe, Tweetie, Kes etc. take a look at it? They know more about it than I. AND it will give you a good headstart! Let me know when the entries are ready! Will there also be receipes for potato soup?
