I can't get it to work !
I really want to make my page look cool, but I can only get smileys on my page!!

With the blobs, eg
all you do is pick where in your page you want it and copy and paste the code in. Then when you update it should automatically appear.
Your buddy list is something that you add to by going to a researchers page and clicking on the link that says add to buddy list (near the top left in all skins I believe)
When people add you to their lists, their name will also appear telling you they have added you 
With the who's online bit, you again just type in what you posted here.
Something like:
Click hereto find out who is online at the moment
would bring up a link on your page.
You get a header by putting:
Write your header here
and you do a link by typing one of the following:
Preparing a Chicken
BBCi website
Editor's Personal Space
The first is for internal links in h2g2, the second is for external links and the last one is for internal links to researchers homepages.
