Thanks
Posted Jan 20, 2002
I just wanted to add that I've enjoyed my stay at h2g2 immensely. I've had some great fun, made some great friends, and was supported through some very difficult times. I've also learned some great new words, which I look forward to using at some point, including idiolect, vituperative, supercilious, ad hominem and didactic. Make of that what you will
Love and s

I've enjoyed my stay at hootoo imensely. I made some wonderful friends, had a lot of fun, was supported through some very difficult times and learnt more than I could have imagined. But from now my contribution, if any, will be as anonymous as text will allow. There is too much RL under the s and not enough s in RL, so I'm off to find some.
By the way, I also learnt some great new words, which I look forward to dropping into conversation when the opportunity arises; including idiolect, vituperative, didactic, ad hominem and supercilious. Make of that what you will
Anyhow, I'm rubbish at goodbyes so I'll leave you all with a rousing BLUE ARMY! and good night all
So long, and thanks for all the ,
Take care out there.

Ed
Posted Dec 6, 2001
A few days ago someone fell 14 storeys from the St. Francis Court tower block in Ipswich. I found out from a cabbie on the way back from a friend's house. Since then I found out from someone else it was someone I knew.
His name was Ed - He was a great musician ,and DJ'd once in a while, but was incredibly quiet and never seemed comfortable in people's company. I last saw him about a year ago volunteering at the local psychiatric hospital. Neither of us knew what to say.
I still don't. I didn't know him very well, but the fact he's gone - and the way he went, has left anyone who knew him reeling. He just couldn't take it any more. I wish, as I'm sure a lot of people will, I'd made more effort to stay in touch with him. I don't know when his funeral is yet, but I'm sure it will be attended by a lot of people.
My thoughts are with his Dad, a great sax player and a good man.

For Ed
Posted Dec 4, 2001
After I made that posting, I found out that someone in Ipswich jumped 14 stories from infamous St. Francis Court tower block.
At the time I just thought "hhh, there goes another one" and felt bad about not being more concerned. But yesterday I found out it was someone I knew. He wasn't a close friend, but he was a friend.
His name was Ed, and I used to often see him at friends' houses when we'd jam. He did a bit of DJ'ing, and was a great musician, but extremely quiet and never really seemed comfortable with people. I think he spent a lot of time with guys who took Speed.
I hadn't seen him for a long time, except once I saw him when I was volunteering at the local psych hospital. We both felt embarrassed to be there, and didn't say any more than 'Hi' to each other.
I didn't know what to say.
I don't know when the funeral is, but I know it'll be attended by a lot of people. He had many friends in town, and I expect people will feel terrible about not making more effort to keep in touch with him. I know I do.
I wanted the posting to be a declaration of something - I know who I am and how I feel, and I'm not going to lie. I keep thinking it's a worthwhile cause, trying to encourage an environment where people can, to help things like this from happening. But it happens right here and I have no idea.
I pray he finds peace in death he couldn't find in life, and for his family.
Chris
