A few days ago someone fell 14 storeys from the St. Francis Court tower block in Ipswich. I found out from a cabbie on the way back from a friend's house. Since then I found out from someone else it was someone I knew.
His name was Ed - He was a great musician ,and DJ'd once in a while, but was incredibly quiet and never seemed comfortable in people's company. I last saw him about a year ago volunteering at the local psychiatric hospital. Neither of us knew what to say.
I still don't. I didn't know him very well, but the fact he's gone - and the way he went, has left anyone who knew him reeling. He just couldn't take it any more. I wish, as I'm sure a lot of people will, I'd made more effort to stay in touch with him. I don't know when his funeral is yet, but I'm sure it will be attended by a lot of people.
My thoughts are with his Dad, a great sax player and a good man.
