Hi Kathy :-)
Babel17 Started conversation Dec 12, 2000
Just thought I would drop by and see how you are doing.
Know you are busy at the moment, what with papers to do etc., so just email me whenever. I have plenty of time.
Hope you are happy, *hugs*

Hey Babel--
*hugs* to you too!!! I am in the midst of pulling an all-nighter to study Greek and write my anthro paper. Do you have any experience doing this? is it better to try to sleep some or not at all? I thought I would never do this. I was wrong. Oh well. I have not been sleeping a lot lately anyway. I also got my own carrel in the library--SPACE for me!!!!
I have not heard from Ina since the last time when we continued our philosophical debate and she told me she would not be back in town until January. She offered to call me, but I don't know if I necessarily want to have this conversation over the phone. Maybe AFTER exams. What do you think?
How is your situation? We shall have to chat sometime--do you have AIM?? Maybe I can download the MSN version. I will be done with my last paper monday morning but hopefully things will slack off over the weekend some--I won't be on much over break.
Hope you are happy too.
Kathy

All nighters are killers. No right or wrong ways about it. You can either do them or not. I used to thrive on them, then fall flat on my face for a week. Of course, the proper thing to do is get them done well in advance, then you don't need to do all-nighters
Seriously, though, the decision is up to you. As for Ina, well, how are you coping? Will it affect your exams? Personally I would try and concentrate on them. They are more important in the long run.
You can talk after. Also taking a break will be good. I'll email you later on with more suggestions. Bear in mind that what you say here can never be deleted, and is available for all to see. Just a caution. You never know who's lurking around the corner...
Me? I'm "fine and dandy, Lord it's like a hard-candy Christmas.."
I am looking into getting AIM set up too, so that might be easier.
When is your break, and for how long?
Drop me a line when you get a mo.
~hugs~
J.

Really? I just assumed that you could remove anything from your homepage. I will e-mail you soon. I do know this is semi-public, and that's why I haven't been terribly clear. I am not thinking about her too much lately--been busy solving other people's problems and studying. I am in the midst of writing an ethnography--another all nighter --actually I've been sleeping like 3-4 hours a night. My break begins Tuesday. We can talk on AIM tomorrow night or Friday if you want.
*hugs*
Kathy

Unfortunately, no. Everything is still there. You can delete your homespace stuff, by editing it and replacing it with nothing. You can change your name a million times and it doesn't complain. You can Unsubscribe to fora, but your posts remain, you can delete your articles, as long as they have not been incorporated in the guide, and finally you can remove journal entries from your workspace but, and here is the most important bit, they do not go away. so for exapmle if you had a bad day and dedided to vent your anger in a journal entry, to which you later decide you shouldn't have done that, then you can remove it form your workspace, but it has not been deleted, so a bit of deft searching would find it. Scary isn't it, and with (allegedly) 68729 potential lurkers (plus those who haven't even registered), nothing is hidden. Realististically, this is VERY public.
As for AIM, I haven't had a chance to get it set up at home
So I'll have to rely on email for a while, probably until you return.
I'd love to chat to you real-time, can't wait But I'll have to
3-4 hours a night is quite good really. As I said yesterday, I used to do that than keel over. Roll on Tuesday and sleep, eh?
I won't be on much next week anyway, but as and when you get a chance, lets email I generally respond straight away (ie as soon as I log on and download them!), sometimes the next day. But you reckon you won't be on much, so, just whenever ok?
~big hugs~ Thinking of you.
J.

Just about to check mail.
Just started another dayshift. Only today and tomorrow to go then off until 27th Nightshift (actually my favoutrite shift)
I am here, I have just read Lil's and was going to post there, but it's quiet, so ignore my post there and we'll talk here
How am I IRL? Ok actually, my back isn't hurting anymore. Just very tired, as you must be, pulling 36 hours straight.
have you slept since then, or am I keeping you up?

Go to bed. I'll be here for the next 7.5 hours (about 11am your time)

Hi Kathy :-)
Babel17 Posted Dec 16, 2000
Sleep well? Not enough though, eh?
Checked mail yet? Clearer?
New roomie! somebody to bug you, and borrow your stuff and generally get in your way, but also someone to talk to, be friends with. Could be good, could be bad. Time will tell.
I need to go get some lunch in a bit, so do what you need to do.
I'll tell you when I'm going

actually, i don't wish we had H2G2 IM. There are people here i wouldn't want to talk to.

Hi Kathy :-)
Babel17 Posted Dec 16, 2000
Our timing is absolutely lousy
Glad to know she is a friend, and I'm sure all will be well.
Will check email in a mo, but it has turned a tad busy.
h2g2 IM in the same vein as MSN IM would be ok, as you have to request somebody to join, so if somebody wanted to speak to you for example, you could say 'No, don't want to talk to that person'
Back in 5...
~hugs, hugs, hugs~

What a wonderful thought, being able to be on h2g2 while still in bed
I think lunch will have to wait until I leave at 4pm (1.5 hours to go) then I have to go home and get xmas tree up and so on...
Then out tonight to neighbours for tea and drink (oh no not again!)
Then do it all again tomorrow. Last one though
You should really get some more sleep. Do me a favour? Go to bed early, then we can chat tomorrow (barring stupid work problems )
Unless you still have tons of work to do

Babel, I am writing a 10-15 page paper on minority female installation artists drawing from theories of gendered domestic interiors, autotopographies, the psychology of collecting, and the rhetoric of objects. Don't mean to sound pretentious, but this is what I'm neck deep in. So I can talk to you tomorrow morning, but not much. I need to get my books out of my carrel. I'll have to work here tomorrow morning anyway b/c the library doesn't open until 1. Plus nobody will be in their carrel and I'll run the risk of falling asleep!
Kathy
