Hello Captain Kebab! and welcome to H2G2.
What a fun page!
Made me laugh anyway.
Poor Manchester City, I'm a Grimsby Town fan, myself,
What fish do you keep?
I like to breed guppies
We all have a great time here on the h2g2 website!
You sound like just the kind of person we need in the Guide...
As you go round meeting people they will get to know you & what you are into...
Another good way to find like-minded people is to write a Guide Entry, then submit it to the Guide, and other Researchers will read it & comment on it. A great way to make new friends!
Well, I came here to greet you, so here's the set greeting:-
I am an Archangel, a fellow Researcher who has volunteered to help and guide new Researchers if they need it.
Thank you for joining our online community and I am sure you are going to have a great time here.
Have fun joining in the forums, or create your own!
Please feel free to search for any subjects which interest you, and if you can't find any Guide Entries on something you know a lot about, please write one!

Hi!
Thanx for the hello
I'd have thought you would be quite expert on fish if you're a Grimsby Town fan. I don't breed anything (although I did once have a guppy surprise me with a brood (school? flock? swarm? lot!) of fry, one of which survived to adultness. I don't really have much success with livebearers, all the books say that guppies and platies and such are really easy to keep, but the beggars always seem to pop their scaly clogs in my tank. So I've got gouramies (is that how you spell it?) striped barbs, black widows, a peppered cat and the obligatory neon tetras.
I also keep bonsai (guess I should put that on my home page) and all the ones that are supposed to be easy die, and the ones that aren't supposed to work do - that's Man City fans for you - contrary.
Oh well, off to check out the links you suggested.

wow - a positive response to my greeting! {I get about one in fifty...} you have made me a very happy woman!
I only have guppies in my aquarium, and a housecleaner.
The guppies breed all the time, a new batch every month, but most of the small fry get eaten by the adults.
Unfortunalte, but the fastest fry survive.
I have a fantastic pair of male speckled fan tails; bred by me.
Another almost adult from a later batch.
Those fan tails are just chasing the new females I keep buying, as they are the ones which die on me.
They give birth, they die. What a life.
Someone told me to buy a certain plant, which sits on the gravel, the fry can hide in it, I went & bought 2 clumps, it's about £1 per plant, and I can see small fry in it, so it must work!
Hoping to breed more, as my little boy loves to watch them...
Hope to chat with you some more, and if you need any help, please shout, I'll answer.
Thanks again for your response...Captain Kebab

Everything is tickety-boo, thanks. I've not written any guide entries yet, although I have an idea or two. I've enjoyed browsing around, however, and have had my two penn'orth in the odd conversation. There're some interesting people contributing to this site, and, happily, a nutter or two to whom I can relate.
That's when I can get online - my wife keeps hogging the PC to practise her touch-typing - she seems to think she should be able to type faster than me 'cause she's a girl! Bit of an old-fashioned attitude if you ask me, but she didn't ask. I wouldn't care, but when I suggested replacing our old PC which she never used with this current one she told me it was too expensive.
Gotta go - she'll be here in a minute, picking up the phone to make a call without realising I'm online - thanx for dropping by and see you around
