Nogbad & I are going to see Robert Plant at the Apollo shortly , do you know of any good pubs either near the bus stop back to Picadilly, or at Picadilly bus station itself? I know there's one just round the corner from the Apollo but it's so small it's impossible to get served in the crush for last orders smiley - sadface It's gotta be the bus, the trains don't run on a Sunday smiley - grrsmiley - smiley and I won't park my car anywhere in the locality smiley - yikes

Hmm - I don't think I've ever found a decent pub near the Apollo, but if you're walking back up London Road to Piccadilly Gardens for a bus there's pleasant little pub immediately after the Malmaison Hotel (at the bottom of the station approach) - the name of the pub has gone out of my head, but right after you pass the Malmaison on your left on the way to Piccadilly Gardens you will see a little side street, also on your left. I think it's called Gore Street. All there is in this street is the pub - it's really obvious.

When the name comes back to me I'll let you know.

Aha - just read your post again - you're getting the bus back into town. The best bet in Piccadilly Gardens would be the Wavey Spoons on the Oldham Street side of the Gardens - you know what you're in for there. Or you could have a two minute walk towards the station for the pub with no name! smiley - smiley

The pub I'm on about is the Waldorf. It's only a couple of minutes from the bus station - I think I'd go there.

Eek - in all the excitement of configuring Electric Stella for the winter timetable I forgot, but according to the MEN website tickets are still available - I've put the number and a reminder in my phone.

Not definite that I'll go - the Admiral doesn't fancy - we can't really afford for us both to go, having had expensive hols, bought a new PC, decorated the kitchen and refloored the kitchen and hall all in one month - and I've promised myself a welder this winter. The credit cards are showing the strain. smiley - sadface

Still, I AM tempted. My first ever pre-recorded cassette, bought for about 75p from a remaindered basket at Boots, was Welcome to my Nightmare. I figured if I didn't like it I could record over it. I didn't! smiley - biggrin
