Hej broelan!
broelan Posted Nov 18, 2001
i'm wonderful thanks for asking! i love this time of year... i know it's a little early, but i can't help it. i'm expecting house guests over christmas and i just can't wait!! my only complaint is that it's still too warm. it doesn't feel right getting ready for the holidays wearing shorts
glad you're doing well! what have you been up to lately?
Hej broelan!

Well, if it was 40 - 70 degrees here, shorts would be too warm to wear!
I've been doing the laundry...
- and emptying my grandmothers appartment after she died a month ago...
And I'm not prepared for christmas at all!
And I'm broke!
However, I'm fine!

darned metric system!
sorry about your grandmother we had to do that about six years ago. she passed away only three months before her first great-grandchild was born
and i *hate* laundry. but not as much as i hate washing dishes!
i'm not ready for christmas either, but getting ready is half the fun! last night hubby cleaned off the top of the t.v. stand so we could put our candle-lit houses there. we've been putting lights up on the house for the past week i won't turn them on yet, but we wanted to get them up while the weather was nice. hopefully we'll finish them tonight.
i'm broke too. i had scheduled my vacation from work a few weeks ago, so i lost any overtime i would have had for that week (i usually get 10-30 hours overtime per paycheck). then before i could go back my son caught the chicken pox and had to be kept home from school, so i missed more work to stay home with him. for several months now we've been waiting for bad news from hubby's job, but last week they offered him overtime until the end of january... so that will get us thru christmas at least.

Glad to hear you'll get through Christmas! I don't usually think much about money (the few I get), but it's really bad at the moment.
What I meant was, that I'm not ready to get ready for Christmas!
I love getting ready, but I'm not ready for it yet!
And I haven't washed the dishes yet!

Thanks for your posts broe!
I really mean thanks.
Sometimes I'd wish I was one of those more than 92000 researchers who can post something to their journal without having ten people coming running in...
But I'd also hate if nobody replied...

well, i think on a subconcious level, you put it there because you *want* people to see it.
and that's great! because if no one wanted to see it, and nobody cared what was up with you or how you were feeling, no one would be subscribed to your journal
but we are.
because we want to know.
and we care.

did you know....
that the capital of denmark is glasgow village?
(my mad-libs desk calendar says so )
Hej broelan!

mad libs is a game we used to play when we were kids. the first page would ask for several different kinds of words which you would fill in, then turn the page and transfer the words to the story on the following page. the result would be a nonsense silly story that was very amusing.
back before christmas while i was out shopping for a calendar to put in my office that my office-mate would *hate* (long story) i came across a 'mad libs' daily desk calendar and couldn't resist.
so, yesterday the words it asked for were 'a foreign country' (for which i chose 'denmark') and 'a town' (for which i chose 'glasgow village'). when i came to work today and turned the page and filled in the puzzle it said:
geography
the capital of 'denmark' is 'glasgow village'.
the words it asked for tomorrows mad lib were
an adjective
a noun
another noun
a verb
and a plural noun
and i chose
round
box
hat
dance
and days
so tomorrow i'll have another mad lib to fill in.

*rolls eyes*
Well, if you're amused...
(And more important - if your office-mate hates it! )
Don't forget to tell me how it turns out tomorrow!
Hej broelan!
broelan Posted Jan 15, 2002
today we have a 'weather report'
'today will be partly 'round' with a chance of 'box' storms in the late afternoon. teses should taper off by evening, but don't put away that 'hat'. look for it to 'dance' 'days' and dogs all day tomorrow.'
how are you today?
Hej broelan!

well, and i've been a mad libs fan for more than 20 years. admittedly the humor does appeal more to the 8 year old mindset, but it's still fun even if it's not as funny as it used to be.
