h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

My little advents parcels have now arrived at all their destinations. Littl'un called from Berlin to thank us for the parcel and was most enthusiastic. I sent him a little bottle of red wine, a cup, and a bag of spices to make mulled wine, as I did the others, and some post that had come for him.

People are so nice. Last summer he lost his purse at a railway station somewhere between here and Berlin. I think I mentioned it here somewhere, but can't find a journal about it. It arrived in the post today, intact and with the money still in it! He was rather disappointed that the finder had not put their address as he would have liked to express his gratitude.

So that's one person who had a great day. And the fact that he rang us up to tell us made our day more cheerful.

That's lovely. It is cheering with all the horrible things that are happening in the world today. Gives us a little hope.

When I was reading about your advent parcels in your journals I was thinking that it was a beautiful thing to do and your children must feel so loved to get them through the post

There is a lot of kindeness in this world, often in my local paper there are such trinkets, of people thanking unknown people who returned a purse or a wallet, or sat with someone who was unwell until an ambulance came, or who stopped and offered help to someone in someway

Sometime these acts can be very small but so meaningful, When I was travelling through Germany from Greece (long story) it had been a quite road trip, and, while I was on my home stretch at this point I did feel quite lost, it obviously showed.

A lady just gave me some face wipes and couple of foxes mints from her handbag on an early morning train. I went off and discreetly brushed my hair after wiping my face and sat there sucking my mints and had a little chat, awkwardly shoving my mint to the side of mouth, feeling so much happier at the show of kindness and 'refreshed'. A little thing but I'll never forget it

I must say I agree about the advent parcels. A lovely idea. And very cool about the wallet.

Well I've had my wallet pinched once.

On _four_ occasions I've either dropped it or left it somewhere stupid on a public street and had it returned fully intact.
