You can call me TC Started conversation Sep 7, 2012
This morning there was noticeably more dew on the grass when I went to hang out the washing. The sun was lower. The light was breathtakingly beautiful - clean and golden.
So often on this site have I said how much I love September, but I can't find a journal about it anywhere (not easy with my sometimes cryptic titles). Probably I just chimed in with Gnomon's seasonal journals.
The trees haven't started changing yet, and August was a scorcher right up to the last minute, so summer is hanging on in there. It's not cold, but the days are shorter, and September is here.
All those lovely songs about September. One that I particularly like is by Georges Brassens: >>Le 22 de septembre, aujourd'hui, je m'en fous.<<
I suppose I'll have to translate that to avoid the yikes devil
It means - "The 22nd of September - today, I don't care"
Actually I've just remembered that I nearly called this Journal "La rentree" because it's a time of beginnings, sharp pencils, shiny shoes, and far more good intentions than at New Year.
I shall start by de-frosting the freezer at the weekend.

I like September too, but appreciate it more so if we've actually had a summer rather than weeks of cold, unrelenting and dreary rain. Maddeningly Britain seems set for a few nice days now it is too late to get the real heat and long afternoons.
And as for the yikes devil, I think those days have past. We are allowed to be quite natural in our use of language - bearing in mind fair use - if things look suspiciously as if someone is posting offensive material and we don't have the resources to translate, that is the only reason we'd hide something.

My favourite month too, and like Lanzababy I would have preferred the sunshine earlier, but it is a tonic after such a wet and miserable summer.
We have a few more days of this beautiful stuff - hot sun, blue skies and fresh breezes then the wet stuff is due back so they say, so we must make the best of it while it lasts.

As always seems to be the case here, September is shaping up to be sunnier and warmer than any of the official Summer months were. When I was at school, I used to hate the fact that the good weather came when my holidays ended, but now that I'm at work for most of the Summer anyway, it doesn't matter as much. I'm just happy to eventually get a Summer this year - Indian or not!

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship. Posted Sep 7, 2012
I'm currently in Paris, and it's destined to be 30C on Sunday.
Paris is not, particularly, my favourite City, and apologies to any Parisiennes, but in the heat, it is very unpleasant. Especially the Metro that runs beside the sewers and became so bad they have air-fresheners that spray a special spray called 'Madeliene' just to counteract the smell, and was specially formulated for that purpose.
A Parisien on my local Supermarket's deli said 'Paris in the heat is like being wrapped in cling film, and breathing through a pair of musty old socks'. How he knew I don't know but I'll let you know Monday.
Oh. Why am I here, if I don't particularly like Paris? I found an offer of a 50% reduction on a 3*** hotel and it gives me a chance to retake the photos I took when I was 18, that I managed to lose.
Now give me Rheims, Brittany, Normandy, The Camargue, or Chartres, or anywhere in Belgium, and you've got me!!!

Doesn't that come with the territory when you decide to build an underground rail network? I've been in a couple of them in different places and the experience is much the same: smelly, humid and hot.

You can say what you like, MMF (great to see you posting again, by the way) - you make me feel homesick for Paris.

Not sure about the yikes devil being exorcised. I'm sure just this week a post was yikesd for being in Spanish.
