Greetings GreeboTrill smiley - smiley

Hi there and welcome to H2G2! I'm Phoenix, and although I don't have any extra letters in my name I'm still one of the ACEs here at H2G2. (Um, Baldrick, I think those letters are in back of, instead of in front of, your name. Perhaps you simply prefer to read from right to left, I guess that's understandable for some people. smiley - winkeye) Anyway, I was inspired to stop by to greet you a second time because of the similarity between your name and that of Greebo T. Cat (another of the hoopy froods here at H2G2, who now that I'v mentioned her name should be dropping by shortly. An invokation of sorts, saying her name. smiley - smiley) I hope you have fun here at H2G2, as you can see we're a friendly bunch. smiley - smiley

How they got so sensitive I'll never know. It must have something to do with her feline nature. smiley - winkeye

Well, regardless of how often you are able to log on, we're still glad that you're here and look forward to hanging out with you.

You said you have another cat who's name is Greebo too? Man, that sure is a common name for cats here at H2G2. There are other Researchers here who also have 'real life' cats named Greebo (having named the cats before meeting our Greebo T. Cat). Where does this name come from?

GreeboTrill

It comes from Terry Pratchett's Disc World Series (hilariously funny. A must read!). Greebo is Nanny Ogg's cat (she's a witch in the book) and he is more of a force of nature than a feline although she is still sees him as an innocent fuzzy kitten. The Trill part is from Trillian (naturally), my all white feline companion of 10 years. She's become the feline equivalent of a twinkie.

Oh? Greebo T. Cat says that she spent some time with Nanny Ogg...there's also Greebo the Kat who I've somewhat lost track of. Ah well.

That sound reasonable to me. Perhaps I should read that book. A friend of mine has it and has been trying to get me to read it for some time.

At first I thought the 'Trill' part might be a Star Trek referrence, and I was starting to think that Greebo might be one of the Trill symbiots. smiley - winkeye

You will either love them or hate them. I have found few folks who are inbetween about it.

Question - I have my Livin on the Air in Cincinnati post and I would like to make it a guide entry. Does it, by default, become one or do I have to do something special?

The gonna go outside!

Well, your Living on the Air in Cincinnati is a Guide Entry already because of area of your Researcher page you used to create it. At the moment its un-Edited Guide entry, which means that it won't show up in people's searches unless they select to search for un-Edited, as well as (or instead of) Edited entries. You might want to check out the Don't Panic FAQs (http://www.h2g2.com/DontPanic-FAQ) for more information about the differences. If you want it to become an Edited entry (they used to be called Approved Entries) you'll want to click the 'Submit' button on the entry's editing page. Before you do, you'll want to convert it from first person to third person as entries written in first person won't be accepted without being converted. To retain your own writting style and such it's usually better if you do the conversion yourself. I have an Entry that I wrote (http://www.h2g2.com/A374717) that will not become an Edited entry because of this same thing. I prefer that it stay in first person because it's about my personal experiences. It doesn't bother me that it'll never get approved, it's just a little less accessible to people, but I like it the way it is and don't want it edited.
