I thought I should introduce myself properlly before I meet people in person. Maybe I might be able to remember names that way!

Hello, and glad to meet you. If this tactic is likely to work for you, fair enough. I think it'll take me three meets to remember who's who whatever I do.

Well having navigated my way past two fresher's weeks at uni I've found that you either have to repeat everybody's name as often as possible, or generally blag it. 'Mate'; 'Hi' etc. work wonders

Yeah, but I'd still be calling half the people 'mate' at Christmas time, which makes writing cards harder.

You could do what my old MP did and send cards 'dear friend', which I always thought ironic seeing as I personally disliked him lol.

Anyway, tell us a bit about yourself, whats ya name, where do ya come from that type of thing. As I'm sure you know my real name is Tom, and I'm a southerner of various residences.

"Dear friend" is what politicians put when they're trying to get you to vote for them.

Name's Richard. I was born in Suffolk, grew up near Middlesbrough and currently live in Kirkstall. I mostly bum around doing various jobs and trying to come up with some sort of post-uni career thing.

Ah the post-uni career thing. I have one lined up and I don't want it any more. Maybe we could do a trade?
