Hello, Granny. Yes I'm doing okay, though I never claimed to be sane and sober, at least not at the same time. How're you?

As well as can be expected thanks, I can't remember if I asked you whereabouts you were/are going? anyway, where are you in Canada & is the cheap?

I'm in Hamilton, Ontarion (near Toronto) and the seems reasonably priced, except for one Irish pub that charged me the equivalent of about three quid (these keyboards don't have pound signs, and the #@"\ and | are in the wrong places) for a pint of Kilkenny .

, when are you over for a holiday?

Dunno. I've got a return ticket for December, but I might move that. Basically I'd need to find somewhere to stay over Christmas or I have to go back home, but I'd rather not spend too much money.

I know the feeling Have you started to get to know people over there?

Some. I missed much of the welcome week stuff, but I've met three Americans (and various other people on a pub crawl they invited me to). I've met lots of other people, too, but mostly I haven't seen them more than once. Had an conversation about music with a couple of guys who seemed happy to be nominated for the position of "interesting people you meet during the first week and then never see again".

Yeah, I remember the feeling well Are you living on campus?

Yes, that's right. And if it wasn't for all these trees someone's planted, I reckon I'd be able to see Lake Ontarion (or at least Cootes' Paradise, an offshoot from it) from my window. I'm on the fifth (fourth) floor as well; if they'd only made them a little shorter.

Thank you. I reckon I'm settling down okay. I've already experienced moving to university, having been at Leeds for four years, it's the change of country that has unsettled me a little. Not too much though.

Obviously it's lake Ontario I can't see, not Ontarion.

So how come you decided to go to Canada to continue your studies?

Well, it seemed more interesting than Manchester. Um, yeah, it was just suggested by one of the lecturers in Leeds, so I went for it.
