good day
Posted May 9, 2005
I finally got a CD from the library with the Prokofiev, and it's awesome. But some of the tempos were surprising. Oh well.
I love summer!! I love free time just to read and write poetry and paint and everything!! I'm starting to read some books about the brain. I also went to the bookstore yesterday and bought a lot of books on art and music. I got one about Beethoven's hair, and how he might have had lead poisoning.
I love life!

Prokofiev must have been crazy!!
Posted May 4, 2005
I'm doing the Prokofiev cello sonata, and boy is it kickin' my butt!! I just started it yesterday, and I've got a lot done, and I was feelin' all good about myself until I looked at the tempo marking for most of the first movement.... it goes twice as fast as I was playing it!! It's absolutely insane!! But, I'm excited! I've been needing something challenging lately.
I took a 20th century class this last school semester, and I took the final test for the class yesterday, and it was horrible! Man, analyzing atonal music is not my idea of fun. I like learning about it and how composers worked out everything, but sitting there three hours trying to figure out prime forms and which form of the tone row Webern used sucked!! I don't know. Maybe it was just because it was a test, and I don't like tests. Hmm... Oh well. It's done.
