I look forward to the day when a 3-dimensional printer could make me a sewing machine. smiley - smiley

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

ahh... I've not used a sewing machine since I was.... oo about twenty years plus ago when I were even more of a kid than I am now smiley - biggrin mind... for a few buttons, a sewing machine is a bit overkill! - I'm just lazy.... not got round to it yet... - I've actually got proper leather sewing needles too, which I think I'll need; the leather at teh point the buttons sew on, is at least double thicklness, if not more (maybe something else inbetween?) smiley - zen hmm, assuming the buttons have holes in em big enough for the leatherwork needle to fit through smiley - dohand assuming I've got some decent enough strong thread, lurking about somewhere smiley - zen - actually, now also realised I really need extra buttons; asides those that sit on teh front, this design, should hav elittle buttons, that sit behind on the opposite side of the matterial; so the button can be fitted, kinda 'loose', to enable one to button it up etc, easier... mind, I might just sew em on tight, I can't see why that woudln't work, and it'll give em a greater chance of remaining in situe smiley - zen - the coat was second hand anyhow, so they were not probably in great condition, how they were sewn on, when it came to me, a couple years back smiley - zen one of my best second hand bargins for years... less than £540 for a ... down to about my nees, lenth, leather coat; mind, its so big on me now, since I lost weight smiley - laugh I might have to think about investing in a new one some time; though in the meantime I've the also bargin, second hand wool coat, that was only like £10 smiley - laugh I have two coats! smiley - wow (first for me) smiley - laugh

Gnomon - time to move on

I did a course in Greek Bouzouki playing last summer and I've been working over the last few months on getting all the information into an entry. Now the Captcha has decided, due to a bug apparently, that I've made too many changes to that entry so it won't allow any more. The entry will have to sit there unfinished until they fix the bug in the Captcha. And there's no sign of anyone doing that.

I think I will have to delete that entry.

That's disappointing.

It also seems like a bad sign of things to come.

I hope you saved the entry in Notepad.

Have you tried just opening another parser - say in Brunel? And putting it in?

Yes I've saved the entry in Notepad.

The Cloudfare problem is not connected with which browser or skin I use, it seems to be purely the size of the entry and the number of changes I make.

I'll try again when I'm told that someone has looked at the problem.

I have taken this up with the technical people, and they say they are working on it. I'm incompetent: I've tried sacrificing chickens, but that doesn't work...

They ask that you send any specific info you've got to tech-at-h2g2-dot-com please. smiley - smiley

Thanks, Dmitri, but in future can you restrict yourself to sacrificing pumpkins or avocados - I'm tending towards vegetarianism and don't want to feel responsible for the fate of innocent avians. smiley - smiley

Aunt Imelda isn't really a chicken, but she *thinks* she is. Does that count? smiley - winkeye

smiley - rofl I will do so. In future, I will leave the chicken sacrifices to my brother-in-law the part-time poultry farmer.

I am in the perfect region for pumpkin sacrifice - my sister the physicist has taught every budding engineer in the county how to hurl them with catapults. And calculate the trajectory...

And then there was the one the grandkids put gunpowder in...it made an unsatisfactory mortar, but worked as a bomb...smiley - cracker

No chickens were harmed in this pumpkin hecatomb.

I'm looking forward to the day when someone like Elon Musk gets interested in Pumpkin Chunkin' and builds a rail gun chunker. That will break the 1 mile mark for sure.

This, of course, is how Julius Caesar conquered Gaul - with a trebuchet and all the unripe pumpkins he could find...

They only use the unripe, deformed, and otherwise unsalable pumpkins, Paul.

It's a form of culling...smiley - winkeye

I'm sure that even the ugliest pumpkin is loved by its mother. smiley - smiley The last couple of years I've tried growing pumpkins, but got not a single pumpkin. smiley - sadface

It looks as if they've either fixed or turned off the Captcha. I'm now able to edit entries and save the changes!

Now I can get to work on a few big entries, such as my "Playing the Greek Bouzouki" entry.
