Fascinating.
The Greek for earth seems to have been ge (or gaia) rather than geo, which appears as the combinative form or prefix.
Perseus doesn't really mean flying horse; that would be Pegasus. Perseus became associated with Pegasus, unseating its original rider Bellerophon. Don't know if you can get that into a brief table entry; all I can think of is "Mythical flying horse (by association)".

I must be getting confused between Perseus and Pegasus. I know who/what both of those are. Let's see what I said in the entry...

Great.
How about a mention for Aristarchus of Samos (c310-230 BC) who 'advanced the complete Copernican hypothesis, that all the planets, including the earth, revolve in circles round the sun, and that the earth rotates on its axis once in 24 hours.'
~ Bertrand Russell, 'A History of Western Philosophy', p.237.

I remember Archimedes mentioned Aristarchus in the introduction to one of his mathematical works, but merely that he believed the stars are very, very far away and that this explains why they behave like a sphere at an infinite distance. I didn't know anything more about him than that.
Will have to look him up...

I'm not through with reading the entry yet, but will give you a layman's comment after my lunch break.
That quote from Bertrand Russell is fascinating, R. Did he really say that Aristarchus "advanced" something that happened several centuries after his death? I'm confused, or am I just thinking in too few dimensions?

Russell means that Aristarchus propposed the same theory that Copernicus later proposed, which is now known as the Copernican theory.

Aaah - Copernican is an adjective, and thus timeless. Sorry for being dim. It was early in the morning.

OK - I'm reading it now. Should I read and comment in Peer Review? Is there a difference between your two entries?

Best if you comment in Peer Review. The only real difference is links. I'll try and make any changes to both.

Speaking about Perseus.....
Today's youngsters might be familiar with Percy Jackson, on the page or played by Logan Lerman on the screen. Before long, Lerman will become too old for the part, so sequels will stop.... Not that that would be a bad thing.
[Sorry if I'm going too far back in this discussion. I lost track for several weeks.....]

I have to admit I'd never heard of Percy Jackson and the Olympians up to now.
