Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation Jan 27, 2011
Mrs G and I both get great inner peace from singing. I'm off home now and we'll be going to our choir rehearsal tonight, where we're practising Vaughan Williams's "A Sea Symphony".
This will be a chance to forget all the worries of the week, the bugs in h2g2 and the other problems we have at the moment, and just sing.

Awww - sounds like you're feeling very poetic already. Enjoy!
I'm off horse riding now, witch much the same aim

It's a great work, and one of the very few things I've ever sung which is not religious. We're not performing it until May, but there's a lot of learning to do.

Presumably, at least the language is English? (Excuse my ignorance of the work - you don't get much chance to indulge in English composers here)

Yes, it's poems in English by American poet Walt Whitman about the sea, set to music as a symphony by Vaughan Williams. It uses a huge orchestra, so we're going to have to sing really loud!
