You came across as quite challenging initially, however, despite our political divide you have taken a more subtle approach. Interesting, I must think on this further.
Were you formerly known as "redpeckhamthegreat" before "Effers" ????
I could be wrong, frequently am Like I said before - tracers work both ways and before you ask it is not in my nature to Court controversy, certainly, and often it goes horribly wrong

Hi norti, Nice to hear from you. Yes so far I haven't had a problem with our political divide, because I like so much your humour and 'nortiness'. And also your open-mindedness about listening to others viewpoints, and discussing that without trying to just points score like some do..leading very quickly to polarisation. I wish more people here took your honest, and genuine, and humorous approach.
Despite our differences in politics, I think we both have in common, I'm presuming, a strong belief in democracy and the rule of parliament and Law. All during those Tory years, that I found difficult, I always reminded myself that I lived in a democracy, and just had to put up with the fact that my fellow citizens had voted otherwise to my preference. I had to respect that, and always expect my fellow citizens to do likewise. I attended demonstrations and exercised my free speech..often with no effect still...
***
Yes I did formerly have another identity..but that was during a very specific and difficult period in my life. I got into all sorts scrapes and difficulties here. Things are mostly much better now, even though RL is still difficult because of mental health issues and problems I have..these won't go away....but things are *mostly* easier here at h2g2.
Can I put you on my friends list?

nortirascal Posted Mar 2, 2010
You're most welcome, please do
I had a lovely from LTS, he's a gay guy in a relationship, however sooooooo many issues. He appareciates my open mindedness, even though I'm vehemently heterosexual LOL Don't think stonewall will ever be asking me to make a speech for them I think he quietly appreciates the support he has recieved from people on Hootoo, and, from what I have seen, the Ed's as well. All credit to everyone We all need a little help and support in our lives at somne stage, for some it goes on longer than others
I shall return the courtesy, if I may, and add you to my friends list.
I also, quite frequently, get myself into scrapes here. Invariably via a badly misguided sense of humour, and have had a spell on the naughty step (premod) because of it Publish in humourous haste and regret at leisure
Should you ever need it, to berate me in private, and there are one or two who kindly do so, please feel free to
User name is the same as here, but with a zero one on the end at googlemail. Who knows, you may even get a reply

Yes put me on your list
I rather like the idea of having a Monday Club member on mine. You're my token Monday Club Member
Yes I read on your space about you being vehemently hetero. Oh well it takes all sorts.
Variety is the spice of life, is my basic philosophy.

Vive la difference! Btter translate that before it gets 'yikes'd' Celebrate the difference!
The great philospher Voltaire once said "Cultivate your garden" He wasn't talking of horticulture, but culitivating your circle of friends to expand your views.

I just realised toady when I added you to my friends list, it didn't work It has now, so I'll be able to cultivate my garden

norti
That's quite ..that it's hard to get friends with me..
But we managed it. But if a Monday Clubber and a red under the bed can become bezzy mates, I reckon there is always hope for the human race.
Your garden is coming on well I think, as is mine
(actually in real life as well, I have the most wonderful mixed up garden of plants, and I love it).

nortirascal Posted Mar 14, 2010
Well, I must say, you're a welcome find under my duvet/bed
I'm a rural lad at heart, love the countryside and all it represents, so look away now if your a member of the ALF, cos I's a member of the Countryside Alliance We'll move on quickly from that one, since I appreciate some have strong views, as are mine
On a lighter note. What spring blooms are you hoping for?
I must think on this further.
Effers;England. Posted Mar 14, 2010
Nope, no special favourite spring blooms - aside from my hawthorn..I love it all, as well as animal life, like the birds and insects. I've loads of indigenous plants growing to help English wildlife..
Nope not a member of ALF. Seem like a bunch of lunatics, from what little I know of them.

That's my type of garden I love the coutryside. I'm so lucky where I live, to have the sea onad coast on onee side and the moors on the other. What more could I want, so perfect for spiritual recreation. Sound like a parson which I'm too much of a sinner to be ever, even my tea mug says "Horny Little devil" on it and a picture of a red devil. I always wave it at the Vicar when she ventures on my landing looking for lost sheep
I do try her patience with my sense of humour, as you no doubt can imagine
Nearly the start of another days "Iwant......You should....I'm going to smash up if I don't get my own way.....etc" From the ingrates that comprise our clientele

Effers;England. Posted Mar 15, 2010
norti, I have some stuff online to do with my garden, if you're interested. The stuff labelled inner city is to do with it, plus the hawthorn thing
http://gallery.mac.com/flyingants#gallery
Oh and the funny snorkel creature thing. Last year I sunk into the ground, an old aquarium. It's great for insects to drink from and reproduce..also all kinds of birds regularly come to drink there.
Crikey that sounds lovely where you live, with the sea on one side and moors on the other.
OMG I can imagine your sense of humour and the lady vicar.. I bet she loves you really.

nortirascal Posted Mar 15, 2010
Of course I'm interested I take an interest in everything, it is the way I cultivate my own garden.
I shall have a look, when I have time at home. If I access non-authorised websites on the work system, it grasses me up to our IT and I get my legs slapped = "Please explain email"
Didn't I say, or did I say on another thread CRAFT moment. That the new Alice in Wonderland film was filmed where I live. Not the Calafornia bit
The Vicar keeps telling me she'll pray for me She's very pious

Not sure if it will let you in because I sem to remeber I limited access to 'friends', you're most welcome to say "Hello" if that's the case and I will add you.
Failing all else, it's the same user name as here on Myspace.com
I don't use the ubiquitous facebook So don't even bother to ask
The Vicar things only God understands me now

Hey norti. You live in a lovely area. Water and woods - I love both. And I loved your hiking outfit..all kinds of shades of dark blues and purple..Especially the cool rucksack..and the norti bank robber style face scarf

nortirascal Posted Mar 18, 2010
I am quite shy about showing my face, it a different story when I get on Port Elliot estates beach. Trek down the cliff, a good mile of south facing sand and sea, no one else about, so it's always a good excuse to do a Reggie Perrin and bring a whole new meaning to tan my back side

Wondering if you could help me answer this one:
I know teenagers would enjoy that much going out to a night club one night but I am a complete ignorant of London's night life and which places are most suitable for ages 15-16 and so on. Would you enlighten me on this, as you have always had?
It's been a long time since I've been out in North Kensington, much less since at Croydon, but I most certainly wouldn't recommend that area
Leicester Square used to have some good restruants, cinema's and some dodgy night clubs. Wouldn't be wanting to send them down the Raymonde Revue Bar or "Heaven" for that matter.
So, any idea's, or contacts with some, for Spanish teenagers? Also the best venues for Pie, mash and green liquor, or equally solid British fare?
I must think on this further.
Effers;England. Posted Mar 19, 2010
Love to help.
Are they just visiting for one day? Or what? I mean London is simply enormous. Give me a bit more idea. I'm not exactly genned up on nightclubs for 15/16 year olds. But I know a reasonable bit about areas worth a visit, if I know how long they have..
First off I'd say Soho is a must. It's not half as seedy as it used to be..yes there's a bit of that..but its very safe and a wonderfully vibrant and fun area to visit, loads of cafes and restaurants..and China town is close by. But if you give me a few more details..I'll know better what to suggest, and maybe other areas like Brick Lane..
I must think on this further.
nortirascal Posted Mar 19, 2010
They are staying at the Ibis court Hotel in Earls Court, staying for about 5 days. Obviously I don't want to give too much detail in a public forum, you have my from an earlier posting, it's the one I use for social chit chat and items that need to be discussed out of the public domain and
Incase you missed it, same user name as here, but with a zero one on the end, at googlemail dot com.
I suggested they get the tube to either Trafalger Square or Charing Cross, I can't remember which is the most direct from Earls Court. Chill out in Trafalger Square, over looking the fact it was named after the battle of Cape Trafalger when we spanked the French and Spanish navies in 1815, cost admiral Lord Nelson his life "Kismet, Hardy".
It's adjacent to Liecester Square and only a short walk from Soho as well With all the cinema's etc. There's still a McDonalds right next tio Charing Cross, if I remember correctly, which of course appeals to teenagers of any nationality
I suggested a boat trip up the Thames, taking in all the sights including Greenwich Maritime Museum with all it's Spanish artifacts May be stop off at a proper English pub for pie, mash and green liquor or jellied eels????? Followed by a disco in the evening on board. At least they will be safe, especially from the dodgier clubs, I won't be suggesting "Heaven" and as long as the boat isn't named Marchioness.
Any suggestions fro Spanish speaking boat skippers who cater for a full day and evening for school groups. Get your Yellow pages out LOL
Science Museum, natural History and Geology museum, South Kensington naturally.
They want to go to Portobello Road, mainly because my family are all from there, my Grandparents were the original Pearly King and Queen of Kensington Best route via tube?????
I think Holland Park.
I didn't mention the Imperial War Mueseum, though it appeals to me, they've had enough with Franco
Brick lane??? Hatton Garden for jewellery
Where else in five days?????

norti I've had a few thoughts about what I would recommend. I may set up a new email account just for h2g2. It's just that I'd decided not to have more email contact here after I got a very unpleasant anonymous one a few months ago on the old address I used for h2g2. But I really should sort that out..but just not post it generally here. I *do* trust you of course, but you know, it's just made me sensibly cautious. Hope you don't feel offended.
Anyway to business. Yes I shall contact you tomorrow or sunday.
I must think on this further.
Effers;England. Posted Mar 19, 2010
Just to be clear. Yes I do still have contact with 2 people here, I totally trust on my usual home email. But it would make sense to set up a h2g2 one for everyone.
