On September 11, I didn't even think of coming here to check in. I just came online that morning to find out if school was closed, and I had a bunch of emails from people asking if I was okay. Since then I realized that after things happen in my region, I'd better hop online to let everyone know I'm okay. I guess it never really occured to me that we're such a part of each other's lives now, it's like family ... and we have to check in to let each other know that we're fine from time to time.

Goodness, I didn't even realise you'd hear about it. 
Everything's OK at this end. The fires aren't near me. Not right now, at any rate. Sunday's supposed to be 40C though It's been very smoky here, but otherwise our part of Sydney hasn't been affected.

Yes, it's big news in England, in my paper yesterday was a photo of a man who had been handcuffed and he was dripping blood from his ear, the police had had to restrain him to stop him going back for his belongings 
I worry about Elly, Bob & Dancer too.
I agree with what Shea said, we are a part of each other's lives, these friendships I have online are just as precious to me as my RL ones.

I am pleaed to know that you are OK SMoB.
The friendships I have here are very precious to me too. My family are shall we say different, and I find it incredible the way that people care for each other here - I am not used to people really caring back!
You guys are really special and I feel privalaged to know you all.

I've made some wonderful friendships here. Ones that I'm sure I'll have for many years to come! Quite frankly, I can't imagine being without h2g2. I'd hate to lose touch with all the amazing people I've met here!
