Yea Vienna, it means nothing to me Vienna,( hahemm ) , yes never been there but it sounds appealing, i am stuck in the eighties i spose musicwise , but i cant help coming over all emotional listening to a Vienese waltz ; from beer tents to ballrooms

There is a lot of 80's in my musical preferences but on the whole I'm not fussy as long as the guitars are tortured

Hey thats great, i have drifted listening to what any of my friends were listening too, and stumbling upon a few things myself so i have listened to a lot of different things over the years but not stuck with any, fleetwood mac is a fave ( each incarnation it seems ), i like that sort of blues " green manalishi" type stuff ,great ! Reminds me of some of the early Pink Floyd, but i am not an expert or real fan having not bought all the albums and memorized all the lyrics. I really havnt one musical genre i prefer over any tbh.

Oh i'm sorry , i meant Captain class , there is a Chatham class too tho eh?
I live in Kent happy near Chatham actually, but the navy pulled out of town in the 80's so the dockyard is only an tourist attraction with a small(compared to the navy days) commercial dock still working.

Captain class is my specialist subject but you sort of pick stuff up along the way about other escort and ASW ships of the era.

all I can say is that it is a drinking song that I learned during a misspent youth in some of the less salubrious drinking establishments of south London

Sounds like you were a bit of a wild rover
A real song , eh?
Maybe you will remember the lyrics ? What were they serving in south London at the time?
" Drink up the cider !"
I bet they have a few good drinking songs at the bierfest, ?
I cant think of any traditional( or otherwise )good drinking songs off the top of my head ( only Irish or folky ones ).
