smiley - ermOK, so the TTP bit I get after reading your page, but why JLCsmiley - doh? Is it just something boring like your initials? Not that your initials are boring or anything, but I'm intrigued. Pretty much the reason I came over here, to be honestsmiley - smiley. To find out what your name stood for, I mean. Still, this seems like a pretty froody placesmiley - weird, so I may stick around for a while. smiley - cake anyone?

Dearest Madmaz,
I wandered around your site quite a bit so I am glad you did come over and check me out too. I wrote a posting but lost the thread on the way there. I'm a real techie, Ha! Yes JLC does stand for my initials, and my name is far from boring.
Anyhow, I was going to say that your persona on the h2g2 does not aptly represent the interests or links you have on your yahoo site. You seem like the young brit bird, seeking sisterly approval and the like. On yahoo, things get a little strange, which explains why you ask people to leave their adulations and grovelings at your email address.
What does froody mean? I am always interest in vernacular and not feeling like anything could offend me at the moment since I had a visit with both a snotty holier than thou Doctor yesterday, who seemed to feel he had the right to give me an ultimatum with an attitude of how dare I question or ask for a confirmation of diagnosis. He either had Parkinson's or was shaking from an Adrenaline rush in anticipation of my rebuttal. He was disappointed as I was a perfect lady. I had a liar's appointment later in the afternoon and wanted to keep my adrenaline to a minimum while heading murky waters of a barister's office. So, fire ahead, I've been vacinated as late as yesterday afternoon from most any of life's insults. What does froody mean?

Uh, I am a little confused by the above. I haven't got much time now- deadlines and so on- to write a response, so for now let me just say that froody is a quote from Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy- it's never really explained, but, along with hoopy it means, like, far out, wacky, cool... You know?

As to the persona not representing me... I disagree- both represent the 'real' me. I never tried to come across as particularly 'sisterly' on h2g2 or mad on yahoo, it just sort of happened. I'm really somewhere in between and quite shy. The 'brit bird' think worries me, but hey...

smiley - erm

Dearest Madmaz,
Just my thing for making words match, what it translates to is "british bird" or English girl. I didn't mean to worry you. And as it goes, I have regretfully never read the HGTG. I will have to do that sometime. I am into Utopia and thats why I'm here at the h2g2. A great plus is that the people areound here seem to be literate and polite. I like that a lot. We can't go too far off mainstream here because of the BBC, yahoo is less monitored, so I guess that accounts for the different tone value in your profile here and there. I will keep in touch as I think you are pretty froody yourself. An idea that comes to mind is that the BBC should publish the book online at the h2g2 and when people, as myself, don't know where a word comes from, we could get the meaning from context in the book. We could put in the word, go to the indexed passage and go from there. Do you think I should start a campaign for this instead of a smiley? Feedback to me on this one, you may be my first signature on the petition.
Worlds of Love,

I reread that bit in the book after sending that message and it turns out froody means something along the lines of 'a really together guy'- so DNA does give a definition. Anyway, sorry I called your page a 'really together guy', but rest assured I meant it in a positive way. I suspect that if it were a proper word, it would be OK to use it to describe a pretty cool place anyway.

Interestingly, I have more than one yahoo I.D., which perhaps explains any discrepancy. I joined this site before the BBC came along and moderated it, and have never really felt particularly restricted by the rules, although sometimes I think they're a bit silly. A lot of my friends in real life are members of the h2g2 community, and I guess they would think it a little strange if my U-page didn't reflect who I really was. My yahoo IDs, on the other hand, are used mainly to deflect the attention of potential chatroom perverts and so on, and are largely a result of a competition with one of my friends to see who could join the most 'interest' groups. Unfortunately, this means that I regularly receive emails asking me to join the 'ducktape appreciation society' or 'gothsforgod' or some such nonsensity. Such is lifesmiley - sadface...

I quite agree that The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy should be available to read online, and should be linked to from this page, even in a condensed form for people to get the general gist. Having done a search on google I've found out there IS a version of it online at:
http://ebookman.f2g.net/ where you appear to be able to read all five books for free in .txt format... Excellent! There are a lot of other good books there too.

Anyways, I'd better go for now. Condsider your petition well and truly signedsmiley - biggrin
