ACT wants to help...

BB,
I posted your story about the voting problem a couple of places and got a response via e-mail saying that America Coming Together - Florida (ACT) wants to help or at least make a record of what happened. They'd like to contact you. I only gave them your e-mail address. I also forwarded the e-mail to you, so I guess you can contact the person that contacted me.
Not sure which you'll see first - this or your e-mail but I wanted to be sure you found out since the thing is so upsetting for you.

There was quite a bit of advice at dailyKos (www.dailykos.com) where I posted. I'm going to copy it here.
*Getting Disenfranchised in Florida (none / 1)
I received the following in an e-mail from a friend in Fort Lauderdale:
"I never got my voter registration card through the mail, decided to go and vote early yesterday just in case there was a problem so I could fix it if need be. There was. I'm not on The List. I can't vote. This morning I went to the Supervisor of Elections office and they confirmed that. Then I called 1-866-OUR-VOTE and spoke to a lawer to register my complaint. He told me that Broward county has been registering an "absurdly high" volume of complaints, that pretty much everything that can go awry has, and that so far 15,000 people have called from Broward and Dade counties because they didn't recieve their registration cards. Apparently nobody has been able to get through to the Election Supervisors office by phone for more than a week now, so some of them called OUR VOTE. sigh When they spoke to the Election Board about it , the problem was blamed on the postal service. Yeah, right. 15,000 pieces of randomly 'lost' mail. I believe that one!
Very depressed about this state of affairs. I emailed Michael Moore and MoveOn.org and will try calling NPR tomorrow morning. Hopefully somebody will at least be able to get the facts and expose what's going on down here in the democratic outposts of Bush territory. Although I entertained conspiracy-theory thoughts I hoped I was only being paranoid. Nope. The unthinkable idea of another four more years of dodgy White House infestation looks more and more probable at this point."
I really don't think she has much of a shot with the media, so I thought I'd turn this over to bloggerland.

*told ACT (none / 0)
Jesus, what a nightmare. I passed your friend's e-mail on to ACT in Florida. Our group, Operation Bubbe is working down in Ft Lauderdale and Palm Beach with ACT this week. Perhaps they can help get the word out. Thanks.

*Provisional ballot (none / 0)
You should STILL be able to vote on a provisional ballot. Keep on pushing for it. There should be a poll watcher in the precinct on election day. Make sure they help you insist on your right to vote and document that you are allowed to.

Dear disenfranchised - (none / 0)
Oh brother that sucks! Over here in California, I'm feeling your pain.
Listen, there are some more media who seem to be interested in hearing these stories, make sure you contact them:
Salon Magazine
The New York Times
BBC News in England http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/3956129.stm
Greg Palast (at his personal website)

and you can also post an entry to the Dkosopedia's Voter Fraud Clearinghouse. http://www.dkosopedia.com/index.php/Voter_Registration_Fraud_Clearinghouse
And you know what? I know this is really frustrating, but there is a gigantic team of activists, lawyers, politicians and volunteers working on this - they are NOT gonna steal it this time.

You're the best! Thanks for looking out for me (and all of us). I'll sleep better tonight and will await a call or email from ACT tomorrow. I'll also make contact with the others you listed here once the vodka has abated.
