I'm sure this is a busy day for you, what with you being the mother of the birthday boy and all, but I had to come by and say thank you. I am honoured. And slightly embarrassed, truth be known - I'm always more comfortable as the donor rather than the recipient.

Tis the season, and all that. Kinda fun to be part of a surprise for someone at the other end of the Earth, glad to have had the opportunity.

I keep Xmas simple here, it's my busiest time for work so on The Day I just make a jambalaya and have an open house so friends can drop in for a nibble and a cocktail without me having to make a big production of things. It's a good tradition, a nice change of pace from the typical holiday fare.

Hope your holidays are lovely and that the new year is filled with happiness, prosperity and peace for you.

Thanks. I'm using these few days to de-stress and think a bit about what I want to happen next. I'm not making any major plans, but there are a few minor items I should deal with. It's nice to have some calm days to think things through.
