The Visitation of the Mother of God

Post 1

Mrs Zen

I wanted to start this thread so that people who wanted to join in planning your visit to Europe had somewhere to start.

But right now, I have to go to work.

I've started this one too, so I can keep it updated and organized.

Coolio!

So... you are coming to the UK on the Wednesday, and going out to Seville for the weekend (as are T and Mr T and Z and me).

I suggest that we spend the second half of the middle week in London, going up to mine for the second weekend, where hopefully we can catch up with Alex and the boyz.

Then we have the last few days which we can spend at Zs in Birmingham doing the midlandly bits.

Howzat sound?

There are far better things to do in the UK than midlandy bits, though Wales, the Coast, and Stratford Upon Avon are all near, as is Warwick Castle, which is rather good fun.

Zat sounds good to me, Ben. I'm so fortunate to have help with organizing things! If it were left to me I'm sure I'd have great adventures, but I'd be floating with the breeze and it would come time to go home and I'd not have done half what I intended to. smiley - cheers I always do better with structured types. smiley - kisssmiley - kiss

Z, will you have to go back to work and life as usual after Seville, or will you be able to gallivant with us? *I* think the midlandy bits will be charming. My adventure mode is always more about getting a 'feel' for the places I go, having meaningful interactions with people, and inviting serendipity rather than trying to dash from place to place so I can see all the touristy things and go home with nothing more than I'd get if I bought a packet of postcards.

Hola! smiley - hug

I need to get my Seville tickets this week so I don't fluff away the time and get caught short if prices rise. I peeked on Ryanair site, can do a one-way on the 22nd in the afternoon for less than $10! It's from the *other* London airport (not H'row or Gatwick(sp?)) Damn, my mind is going. *sigh*

Anyway, is that a reasonable thing to try or am I best to just take the flight I found before that departs h'row and goes back with y'all? That one was a bit over $100 RT if I remember correctly.

Ben, are you still available to chauffeur me between airports if Ryanair makes sense?

How's everything going over there? Is the Autumn gorgeous?

Stanstead is the one you are thinking of. It's a bit of a bitch from LHR, but doable. The problem is that you have to go 1/3 of the way around the M25 which is the London Orbital Motorway, and which can take an hour and a half, but can take much much longer if there are hold-ups.

It is possible to do it by train, but expensive and exhausting after a long flight.

So, it can be done, but it can all be a bit nerve-wracking. My preference would be for you to go from LHR on the 22nd if it is not too much more expensive.
