As I recall the rule is only to know where your is. If Cosmo has eaten it you know it is in his stomach. As long as you are with the dog it should satisfy the rules. At least until you need to dry something How absorbent is his fur?

Lil you have no idea of how much trouble I can get myself into, especially between half past seven and nine fifteen on a M on day morning!
Florida, thanks mate, he's not too bad but you end up covered in hair if you use him after a nice hot bath, and he's much much heavier than cotton...
