Hi!
Vegiman said that you would be interested in joining the Community Artists and that's great to hear. I don't know how much he told you so I'll just tell you some things about us.
The main work of the Community Artists is to illustrate all Entries (articles) that are accepted for the Approved Guide. Unless the writer submits a picture along with the Entry. Sometimes it's also simply impossible to make a picture ourselves in which case we either search for other sources or simply leave the Entry without picture.
There is some more information here:

and

I'm currently the team leader of the Community Artists which means I try to keep an eye on everything and suggest improvements. I'm also busy with other projects most of the time so I don't get to do many illustrations myself. At the moment I am for instance working on this years Community Artists calendar, which will later be sold and has photos made by all Artists who wanted to take part in the project. This is one of our special projects which we get every now and then.
Generally nobody is forced to do anything but a certain amount of participation is expected.
Do you have any questions?

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm still "feeling my way around" and will be very much silent for a while. Partly due to Aspergers Syndrome (means i'm good with computers ... but not very good with people ... well, unless they think nerds are cool, then I can't fail (does not happen as often as i'd like ), partly due to part experiences within community portals (eg: Trolls, why is there no Troll-a-way or Troll-ex available on eBay ?). Still, I prefer to look around and get a feel for things and immerse myself gradually.
Oh yes, and I tend to ramble, please excuse that !
The site itself is a very interesting project, and a HUGE undertaking you guys have here. Vegiman explained some of the background of things, and yes - I am interested in helping out where I can
My main skills are mostly programming based, but there's only so many ways to make a computer say "Hello World" before you get bored, so I ventured into artwork. For this, I use a variety of programmes, and for some web-related work, I have a huge collection of stock photography.
Many thanks for the page-links - as mentioned previously, i'll mostly stay in the shadows - but I thought it best to reply and let you know that i'm here, and please feel free to send me messages for ideas & picking my brain.

Don't worry about that, we have all kinds of people here as you will find out. And many like to ramble. Most all of us are nerds of a certain kind. I'm not really a tech nerd myself. I'm very interested in technology but I have a degree in architecture, so my knowledge is really of a different kind.
Yes, we really put quite a lot of work and thinking into all we do here. Most of it is not even visible on the site itself but there's a lot of talking and bouncing ideas going on behind the scenes. Although everyone on site who has any suggestions and ideas is of course welcome to tell us about them.
All kinds of arts that help us to add an image to a Guide Entry - best an image that gives the reader some additional information about the topic - is welcome.
