AE Hill, Mabin-OGion Character of inauspicious repute Posted Oct 28, 2012
Ironically, it was the fact that my entry was intended to be humorous that put it most at odds with h2g2 guidelines. To this day I do not understand how any perceived opinion reflected in h2g2 should be criticized as less than some other opinion [although h2g2 “Approved Entries” is a place for facts not opinions or theories].
Please do not understand that I am looking for sympathy. I am looking for friendly guidance about my blogging deportment. I also know that your way will always be different than my way, let us be grateful. [smiles]
I intended to shrink the synopsis quite a bit more, but the details are where the potential blunders would hide. So I picked the interaction of one reviewer. I would understand if the previous post is just too long to even want to read. [smiles]

Hello my friend, with a small *f*.
It was nice to hear from you.
Please know I truly respect what you feel like doing, is what you do. As I have tried to say, I want to be that kind of friend that you do not have to write to if you are thinking about other things.
My posts have not been the kind to grab your attention, and that is fine with me. If I post something that “jerks your chain” feel free to write whatever you feel like writing.
When I read your post, I had a question about what you said:
“This site is very quite in terms of active researchers who post stuff ”
I am interested in really understanding what you mean.
What kind of “stuff” do you look for on this site?
If I had to guess with what little I know about Peanut, I would guess you look for titillating tidbits. But I know you like museums also. Perhaps it is the gritty side of life that is more real to you. So set me straight. Why do you like the museum?
If I ask such questions, I guess I should also share such answers. I like the truth about history. I hate the twisted fiction I read in school. In my world, people were very bad to the indigenous people. That history is painful but important. Other than history, I like to learn. I especially like to learn about the brain and why people do what they do.
As for my friends, the guy is a codependent and the gal is an addict. I tried to warn the guy that “helping” people can be an addiction also. Like eating can become an addiction, we all must eat, but if we eat to kill the pain, we can really hurt ourselves. His “helping” is really “enabling” her addiction. He glimpses that truth at times, but cannot control himself after a few days and he calls her again.

I come here to, listen, (read reading for listening) talk and socialise I *know* this is a writing site, but I have never seen as exclusively that. There are interesting people here and often likable and for some reason or another, for me it is a space I have inhabited one way or another for some time.
I like to learn too and I find that I do 'learn' from people here as well as enjoying knowing them
I don't really look for anything on this site
I liked the museum because I am interested in history, it is source of information and a public space.
Can I snigger now like a eight year old at 'titaliating tidbits* , sorry I do have a tendancy to do that
Your posts do actually grab my attention, I read them and think about them I just haven't been writing back

So I like science so that grabs me, on tidbits, I did mean to yank out a random book that I have about aliens and stuff that mention very sordids stuff about Marconi and ramdomly lob in to the mix somehow, just for conversation
it is in the spare room, I think I know where
also I have been enjoying getting to know you, about your family, how you like a ,mostly one but not strict rules, sometimes a visit to the coffee shop can last a long time, that sort of thing

With a book about aliens you might find stuff about Nicola Tesla.
He is one of my heroes.
Don't fall asleep standing up...lol

Peanut Posted Nov 29, 2012
surprising you should say that about Tesla and aliens, it is how I came across him
I can see why he would be a
I will dig out my book (not out of obligation because I want too), it is just the spare room it is a due a seasonal sorting and I am in avoidance mode...

What is *seasonal* mode? [smiles] I know you do not do Xmas, nether do I. But it is hard to be true to my beliefs. Many people chat about the problem on h2g2. All the music, trees, and other traditions people expect of each other. Even the simple “Merry Christmas” every where a person goes can be hard to cope with. Sometimes it can be ignored, sometimes it is ok to say sorry I don’t do Xmas, but usually it is awkward at best.
In the *seasonal* mode it is still a time to have family get-to-gathers, but even family do not always understand. So with all the business I avoid more normal interactions.

hmm, well seasonal mode is nothing to festivals just with seasons, generally speaking there are things which you do in the garden according to season, same with the house, really, well sort off, hmm
so, anyway, I know there a tradition of a spring clean, and that aspires to a sorting of cleaning that my house isn't ever going to get, spring or otherwise, but still it is differently organised and it is good not to let things pile up
as for not celebrating Christmas, I don't really struggle with it, as I don't have other beliefs but I don't have anything against Christmas.
Generally speaking, I find it easy to join in with traditions to a point, and well, value the experience in a community setting
what makes Christmas so so hard for you?

AE Hill, Mabin-OGion Character of inauspicious repute Posted Nov 29, 2012
Integrity or moral soundness prevents me from letting others falsely believe I can tolerate hypocritical behaviors in myself. Oops, that was way too hard to understand.
In the first place, the point is my personal integrity would be violated.
If I was to claim to you that I was a Christian, then it would be hypocritical to use non-Christian traditions as a part of worshiping God or His Messiah.
If I claim that to be a Christian is wrong, then it would be hypocritical put on the appearance of being a Christian.
But if I do not know which of these two positions is correct, then it would be hypocritical not to develop a stand on the matter as I claim to be an integral person. To be an integral person and turn a blind eye to a question as important as religion is hypocritical.
Most people I know do not believe the Bible is the Word of God, therefore they cannot celebrate Christmas without knowingly appearing hypocritical. A few people do believe the Bible is the word of God. But the Bible does not suggest any celebration of Christmas but rather warns not to mix false ideas with true worship.
What is left is the vast majority of people, people that do not care what is right. All they have to go on is what makes them feel good at the time. Doing drugs may make me feel good, but I know that is wrong for me as the long-term effects are negative. So, doing what feels good is not my guide in life. I am one of those people who cares what is right.
As such, it is my belief that each person will have to choose what is right for themselves, save what outlawed by government. Perhaps there is nothing wrong with getting your rocks off. [smiles]

Peanut Posted Nov 29, 2012
but most people don't Christmas as religious do they?
it is 'traditional',
and I am saying there is nothing wrong with questioning that, religious wise, or the traditions, or what they have become
that said I don't think it is hypocritical to get together with your family and eat a turkey with hats on and pull crackers and then setting fire to a figgy pudding, despite not being relgious, for instance

AE Hill, Mabin-OGion Character of inauspicious repute Posted Nov 29, 2012
For sure, I agree it is very important to celebrate family!
We need more of that!
In fact I would encourage celebrating peace on earth and good will to all people.
We need much more of that as well!
What you do is up to your conscious, not my thoughts.
As for me, I cannot eat Turkey with people who think I am celebrating the US thanksgiving or a Christian’s Christmas. If they know I am not AND can accept that eating Turkey is not hypocritical, then maybe; but only maybe.
