Just wanted to stop by, and let you know you've got mail (no, not the sketch yet!) Have a mufflewhump...

smiley - biggrin Thank you very much Amy smiley - biggrin
I feel honoured. I'll reply to your mail on Thursday, when I'm home. Access to hotmail from work is crap, toput it mildly. Damn thing keeps timing out on me.
So tell me, where are you, and if you are in the UK, why are you up so late? My excuse is I work shifts *shrug* smiley - winkeye
Tell me all about yourself, if you want. Nice to meet you and pleased you could drop by, fancy anything to drink or eat, by the way?
smiley - hug

I'm nowhere near the UK... (Which is why I keep whining about meetssmiley - winkeye) I'm in California, which is 8 hours behind you, so the time was quite reasonable...

I tell rather a *lot* about myself on my space (which is also where you can find out what a mufflewhump is, if you don't already know... Most people ask, although I did recently add the directions to the definition to my name...)

Completely understand smiley - biggrin and very reasonable, another Californian to add to my list. You should speak to Gw7en about the Denver meet in March. I know a couple of people from the California area are going. I may even manage to make it there myself smiley - winkeye

I have to confess, I haven't been to your space as yet, but that will be rectified later on, once work calms down a bit smiley - biggrin

I know of the Denver meet... I've been watching the thread, to see if anyone I know is going... I know that I don't come across this way here, but IRL I'm very shy... (I still don't think 2legs fully believes mesmiley - winkeye)

Babel17

Well, one of the beautiful things about this place is that you can let your true self out. smiley - biggrin
I certainly don't come across as a shy person here or IRL, as many people know, but I am inherantly shy. I just hide it well, with jokes and wit and come across as this silly person.

Do you know soeasilyamused? or sea for short? She is in LA and is going. I have encouraged many people to attend meet-ups, because we are sucha friendly bunch IRL, just take a look at the photos from the London meet up in July, i'm there smiley - winkeye Though I would not say they are the best shots of me smiley - laugh. But at the end of the day, the decision is yours to make. I would like to think that perhaps sometime, you do decide to go and find out how mch fun we have. Just like one big family smiley - biggrin

I know sea a little, but I'd be quite likely to drag my husband along, and, well, when you read my space, and remember that sea is a Wiccan, I think you'll see why that could be a *bit* awkward... Though if Dragonfly ends up signing up, or Vidmaster, I might give it another think... If I get enough advance notice to take some time off work... And depending on how the finances look... (We just got a new car, so we've got payments...)

Hi b-17!

I honestly don't think that it should even come into the equation. Sea is a wonderful person, and the wiccan thing is never mentioned really. She takes people on their own merits and not based on their belief system. It would be fine. smiley - biggrin
Dragonfly is another wonderful person.
I know how hard it can be, because it is such great distances to travel. I have only made it to London once, hence spending much of my time organising things up here smiley - winkeye
I wish I had more time to devote to here and all things h2, but I don't smiley - grr Life can be really cruel sometimes smiley - winkeye
Ah well. So how and when did you meet Amy the Ant?

Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE)

Well, Amy+ was the second to ACE me, and I think Amy the Ant just happened to stumble across us... The conversation is still there, of course, but you'll have to go back a bit if you want to lurk over it... And how I got to know 2legs (other than just as a fellow questioner) is interesting, too... If you go to his space, and check out the beginning of the thread 'Radish' (still an active conversation), you'll see that Amy and the Radish led directly to our friendship...

Besides, whining about not being able to go to meets is letting me meet more peoplesmiley - winkeye

True, true, and very happy I am that you found me smiley - biggrin
As I have said, it is always nice to meet new people. Unfortunately, at the moment, I don't have too much time to spend here, and so probably after the meet up in November, I may duck out for a while. Work is becoming increasingly more busy, and since I can only ever get time to get to here at work, I fear I will need to go away for a bit. This makes me very sad, as I love it here, and it's the one ting that keeps me semi-sane smiley - winkeye I have so many wonderful friends who I will miss, but I have the consolation that email is my friend smiley - winkeye

Awww smiley - cuddle for B-17, it'll be sad if you go away smiley - cry but I can understand why you might.
And smiley - hug for Amy P too. For somebody who can't physically make these UK meets you've certainly worked out how to be there in spirit smiley - biggrin
I can understand your concerns about going to a real-life meet but honestly you'd have a great time and meet some brilliant people. That's certainly what happened to me when I took B-17's advice and went to the Onion in August. smiley - cheers mate, you did me a good turn there!

I may sometime be able to go to the UK (one of these years *sigh*) Tom and I have a standing invitation to stay at Light's house, and when I showed it to Tom, he said maybe sometime, instead of 'You know that'll probably never happen'... If we do make it over there, am I ever going to insist on staying awhile and going all over...smiley - winkeye And Light said that when she gets a chance to come to the US (not if, whensmiley - smiley) she's perfectly willing to take me up on my invitation smiley - biggrin And 2legs says that there's a faint possibility that he might maybe be able to fly over after he finishes his degree (I try not to mention it too much, for fear that the faint possibility might evaporate...)

smiley - cuddle for MC smiley - biggrin I'm so glad you did LOL.

Well, we shall just have to wait and see what happens, Amy. But rest assured, whatever meet I do go to, you can always rely on me to take you there too smiley - winkeye
The only problem is really the expense of it all, isn't it.I am sure we all have friends all over the world whom we would love to meet face to face, even just once. I personally plan in the next couple of years to take a month off and do just that. One round the world ticket, and plenty of stop overs smiley - winkeye Hang the expense, that's why companies give you credit. In my opinion, it will be well worth the money smiley - biggrin
smiley - hug

But the only one you have to convince of that is yourself, and you're already sold on the ideasmiley - winkeye I have to convince a husband who doesn't quite believe that it's possible to get so close to people you never actually see... Of course, Light's invite may have helped my cause, as has the fact that I've talked to a couple of my friends on the phone... (Though I think he'd be more impressed if it were our phone that rang... If anyone who has my number is lurking, and you know who you are, that's a hint! And I don't think any of you really need to add to the '...give us a hint...' thread that 2legs startedsmiley - winkeye) Not many people have my number, just the people I've known the longest, or people I know well...

Anyway, I've got to go, because I've got to go to the gymsmiley - yuk

Hi b-17!

Post 15

Babel17

Well, not strictly true. There are others to convince, at the moment, anyway. So it may not be straight away, or even March as I had hoped. smiley - sadface
I have the phone number of a couple of friends in the States, Sea being one, and Gw7en being the other, unfortunately, due to my astronimical phone bills over the last few months, they will have to wait until later in the year before I get a chance to call them. My dad lives in Oz, so my phone is used to long distance calls smiley - winkeye

Got to go to the gym smiley - laugh You know you don't have to do anything you don't want to, but I am sure you enjoy it once you are there really smiley - winkeye
smiley - hug Take care and be safe, talk to you again soon.

Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE)

No, I don't like going to the gymsmiley - yuk! That's why I spell it that way! But I'm told I'm built like my aunts were when they were my age, and I'm avoiding being built like them at their ages (I don't want the 'Hopper hips'...) I will admit I like the results, but since when do the ends justify the means?smiley - winkeye

Talk to you later, b-17 (you too, Metal Chicken)!

Hi b-17!

Metal Chicken

I reckon gyms can be fun as long as you don't do anything too silly with them. Used to go a lot but I'm feeling all flabby these days having got out of the habit. My sort of boss ran a marathonsmiley - yikes this weekend and is shaming us all into doing a bit of exercise now.
B-17 Do the travel thing if you possibly can! smiley - footprints Having people to see is a great excuse and you'll probably regret it if you don't go and you want to...

Hi b-17!

Post 18

Babel17

Damn, my last reply got lost, er what was I saying?
Um about gyms...oh yes basically I said that gyms and diets have to be a personal thing, because you want to lose weight or change your shape or get fit, it can't be because someone else wants you to, unless it is for medical reasons, inwhich case the means does justify the end smiley - winkeye (sort of what I said smiley - winkeye)

Oh and MC, I also said that I would get the trip done one day, just not in the next 6 months as I had thought of, and hopefully before too many people get a chance to move, knowing I'm coming smiley - laugh
smiley - hug for you both.
