Hi Robin, not a problem smiley - smiley

I personally like the program. I am not sure how popular it is throughout scotland, but since it has had 2 series and looks like a 3rd is on it's way, it must be safe to say it is pretty popular. Whether it annoys the majority of people who watch it, alos I am not sure. Initally, yes it did annoy me, but as the characters develope, it grew on me. You have to bear in mind that a lot of the 'titles' may not necessarily be owned by Scots any more. Don't forget that the English bestowed many Scottish land titles to their cohorts and English lords, way back when. Plus if you are of the landed gentry, chances are you would get sent to the best schools, etc.which means private education, and so one would assume you would get taught to speak proper likes, ya ken, no hows us commners speaks. smiley - winkeye

Point of fact. I was born and brought up in Scotland. My mother is from Glasgow, but speaks properly, my dad is English and went to public school, ie Private education, not state or 'comprehensive' as they call it. Now despite having been born and bred here, I still don't have a broad accent, and sometimes have been mistaken for being English (used to annoy the crap out of me as a kid. Many fights over 'I'm not English!' smiley - biggrin) So realistically, it wouldn't and doesn't surprise me that predominantly English actors portrayed the lead roles. Hope this answers your quesry, and helps you win the arguament smiley - winkeye
Cheers,
Jools.
